Now we need to take care of business against Creighton.

Yes we do.
And that Butler loss is going to come back to haunt us, I fear. How the hell did that happen? They have only two wins in conference and we are one of them.
LOL. I was at the Butler game. We lost because we gave away a 12 point lead in the 2nd half. We were lucky to make it to OT and then suck it up. Terrible performance.
And to top it off I paid $2 for a "program" that literally contained only the team rosters and a big photo of an average Butler player with a bad write-up about him. At least I had fun stomping on it after the loss.
IK your question was rhetorical, but I could not resist.

It's not like Butler hasn't given good teams a run for their money. The team is capable of picking off quality teams even today. They lost to then #5 OSU (with Smart) by two, a solid LSU team by 2, lost in OT to Georgetown and Nova, and had a lead against Creighton with a minute to play last week. Yes, the common theme being all losses, but they no less gave these teams hell.
I could see them winning 3 of their last 4 games (Providence, @Nova, @DePaul, SHU)
No way to sugar coat it....it was a terrible loss.

By the numbers, yes, but not unconscionable when taking into account those quality Butler performances this year. A few shots fall the other way in other games for Butler and it's not such a bad loss. Butler's razor thin margins just have never really gone their way this year.

Once again, I agree with the Sultan. Proof he is coming around. Yep, always look for the silver lining "Butler is really much better than their BEast record". We lost to the last place team in the conference--well, one of them.

Sorry, but blowing a 12 point second half lead to the last place team in the conference is pretty damn near unconscionable for a team that is try to get into the Tournament.

Good God--that sounded like a Willie Warrior post. Sultan is the Man, at least for today!

I'll take that concession. But yes, I know it was bad.

Would you feel any different had MU come back from a 12 point deficit in the 2nd half and still lost? Because I don't think the committee is going to be thinking, "hey, I was going to overlook that bad loss to Butler, but Jesus H Christ, Marquette blew a 12 point lead in the 2nd half, so to hell with them."
Butler will be seen on the resume as MU's worst loss, end of story. Whether it becomes the final straw that breaks the camel's back, we may never know... but even without knowing who the other bubble teams are going to be, I'm quite content stacking up road loss to Butler against the bad losses of the other bubble teams.
i was there too. it was horrible. And as brutally as we played it only speaks to how terrible Butler is that the game actually went to overtime.
I have huge huge reservations about Butler being in the Big East. 2 years ago they were in the Horizon league. I sure hope the Big East got some type of monetary guarantee that Butler would spend and operate their program akin to other BE teams and not like a Horizon league team.
