Last I checked, no one on Scoop does Scout or 247sports rankings on who is a 5-star or a 4-star... so unlikely he was referring to scoop.
^You sir, have won the gif wars.

The Golden Eagles are riding a season-best three-game winning streak. They play Creighton, the Big East leader at 11-2 and 21-4, at home in a huge game Wednesday night.
Marquette (15-10, 7-5) is in a third-place tie. An upset against the Bluejays, who have pounded Villanova twice this season, could put it on track for an NCAA berth.
Asked to take the temperature of his team's confidence level at the moment, Buzz Williams said:
"As I've told you and everybody else since I've lived here, confidence can only come from your work. True confidence. I can be Pollyanna and say, 'Oh, we're really going to be good,' but I don't say any of that stuff. The stuff I tell you is the stuff I tell our guys. I might tell them with a little bit different vocabulary.
"But I can only be who I am. I'm not saying that's good or bad. The players can only be who they are. I'm not saying that's good or bad. But I think our culture and how we've built this, win or lose, I believe it's built on the right things. Whether they're young or whether they're old, whether you would deem them a four-star or a five-star guy,
those guys who do the rankings, they don't have to live in this world. Typically speaking, they live with their mom in the basement. We ain't doing that. We're going to work every day."Living in mom's basement. Gotta love that.

And to answer the question ... no, he was not talking about Scoop. He was talking about those that do the rankings.
Or, to be more specific .. Scoop is a bunch of middle-aged guys. We own the basements that those that doing the rankings live in.

I feel your pain about this ... you're forgiven.
He's just making an analogy - my team works hard - the rankings folks don't have to do the work - neither does someone living in their parent's basement having necessities provided for them

I appreciate seeing confirmation in the fact that what Buzz says to the media is what he's saying to his guys. Sometimes I see concern from the board when Buzz "throws a guy under the bus" by saying it like it is to the media. The fact is Buzz is saying this stuff to the players face-to-face before he says it publicly, and he isn't saying things publicly he doesn't think his players can take. The man's a lot smarter than he let's on, and that shows itself in how he uses his comments to try to motivate his players.

He obviously wasn't talking about Scoopers. But if the pajamas fit ...
There are a lot of words in Buzz's response, and I understand each word's meaning, but taken as a group I don't have a great handle on the thoughts he is trying to convey. I think he is saying that confidence is born of hard work and what matters is your contribution, not your perceived pedigree.
Is that what the rest of you think?

Basically, yes. It's not about what some dude tells you your rank is. When crap hit's the fan, it's what you've built from your hard work.
