Jamil always makes things look so easy. If only he was always playing at this level. Wide open looks too :)
We have a Jae Crowder sighting...
Climb on my back boys. March madness here we come. That Jamil can do that.
What the deuce, I mean tres, nice start
Nice to have a game with only one foul in first five minutes....
Wow...no subs yet...prior to first TV timeout...though I don't like the lineup...like the continuity...guys getting into a rhythm.
Juan must have had a heck of a week in practice to get a starting spot after a DNP.
Think Buzz wanted to start with size and D. Wanted that type of match up.

Bad Jamil pass, leads to a three.

I like that we're up 7. I don't like that Jamil's hot start is the only reason why.

Just your standard MU play out of a timeout
Jamil puts ball right in front of the defender
An end of half play without a shot? I expected someone to jack a contested three, but that was even asking too much.

Looked like they were looking for Jamil one on one so he could drive to the basket, but he put the ball right in front of the defender. It was on Jamil not the play.
Well that was ugly...not the best showing by my guy - Dawson - he looks tight...which is too bad, because this was a game by virtue of Derrick's 2 fouls, where he got extended run..and no need to be tight. Though 2 of his fouls were the result of providing help defense...but turnovers weren't good...

This team is maddening. They do such dumb crap intermixed with heady ball. Hard to figur out how they can be that stupid when it counts. Steal ball, call TO for final shot....go to the corner, turn it over and then watch an opponent drive the length of the floor for a layup at the buzzer. Just like Nova and just like Nova MU is lucky it worked out.

true, but the fact this wasn't an anomaly but the norm. And it isn't just this years team, but the norm. Is the issue.
I guess the only time it worked was telling everyone to get out of Vander's way. But I could draw that up.
MU up 24 to 12 at eleven minute mark. Downhill from there.
MU shooting 48%
SH shooting 60%, but 3 for 8 from fts. Difference in game.
MU doubling again and SH making threes after kickouts 6 for 9 from three. Ever end?
Jamil has 16
Gardner has 8
Juan was 3 for 4 and has 6.
DWil had 5 assist in like six minutes, Dawson (Curly Neal) had 4 turnovers, 3 fouls.

Dawson wasn't good...but the lead grew when he was in....and Dawson committed his 3rd foul at 4:29 and we were up 28-22...so Dawson was -1....even though it was far and away his worst stretch of play in his short MU career.

I don't want to jinx it, but SHU looks really gassed. They expended a lot of energy with that frenetic D during the comeback and thereafter.
Damn, nice dish derrick. Ox couldn't quite get the and 1.
Ervin Magic Mayo with the Sweeeeet Dish to Jamil whos playing the Best game of his Career.
Gardner just cost Derrik a Basic Assist.
Crap. That would have been big.

"Interesting how far Gibbs is playing off Wilson "
Lol hes literally in the paint playing a man in 3
Point land.
Wow that is an awful call. Teague purposefully took a dive.
Yea Derrick!
I do like this lineup though. Best option right now.

Nice try Navin....no....that would have been an example of a very good assist...Derrick forced the action, and got Gardner a good look...Was good PG play..

"And they start pressing again now that Dawson is in the game."
MU getting more stops this game, but SHU's three point threats are keeping it close.
Missed bunnies are haunting again. Glad MU is in the double bonus with about 6 left.
Alright IF and I know its still a big IF we can hold this lead for another 2:30-3 minutes we will be already in the double bonus when they start the foul game.
That's a big plus.
Just keep feeding the Ox.
On Fox Saturday? That's just trouble.

im assuming he would always in bound. So unless he rebounds and is fouled immediately it won't be him thankfully.

I'd keep him in but try to inbound to mayo

Great D Jamil!
Edwin and Teague with 4 fouls
LET'S GO!!!
FYI: Radio folks are on delay.
:(
No no no no no,,, yes!!!
DWil in the land of giants.
Very complete game by Jamil tonight.
DERRICK!!!
Layups don't count for Derrick. Not high enough difficulty.

Basic field goal
Dwil/Mayo- really, what was that after a turnover???? WTF?
Hack a Derrick time coming for SH.
Mayo not happy with that non call. And I don't blame him. But gotta keep playing.
Jamil deserves the SOTG if we pull it out, but DG is really busting his a $$ today.
crap.

Loved that one. In the middle of all five guys and kept composure to finish.
How did they not call Mayo getting fouled?????.??..
Oh no!!!!
Mayo got jacked in the head there.
Seton Hall is one or two players away from being a very good team. The missing pieces are huge holes for them.
How does Derrick lose the ball there?
Hack a Wilson
Derrick at line.
makes em both!!!
HACK A DERRICK IN EFFECT... MAKE YA FREE THROWS YOUNG BOY!!!
Wow Dwil!!
Nice. At least have to keep them honest when they hack your point guard before getting to the half court line.
Love to see that from DWill!
They will be fine. Free throws are contagious.
Very nice Derrick. I give you kudos for those two, nice. But law of averages next time.......
I honestly didn't even see contact from mayos elbow on that one - looked Hollywood to me
And here comes hack a dwil
Both Wilsons were pretty darn good tonight.
Got this.
Jake!!
White men can Jump!!
Good to see Derrick make 3 of those 4...in crunch time..well done.
of course they make a 3. Keep it interesting.
There's that great press break!
Alright. 1 down. At least 5 more to go but were movin!!!
Game set match!
This performance by Jamil is why MU fans get so frustrated with him.
This guy can be an NBA 2nd rounder...if he wanted to be one.
ARRRRRRRRRRHHHHH!!!!!
Couldn't resist.
SOTG?
Good game for DW! You can see why DW plays over Dawson.

Amen. But all of the good and the bad in one game. He was awesome......and then he was awesomely dumb. He can be so good. But it is up to him.

But again...he can't put the ball on the floor. That is his major problem.

I totally disagree with your inference that Jamil isn't playing hard.

Yes. +1.
I have been saying this for two years. Jamil can shoot. He can jump. BUT he's not quick. If you get a defender up and into his face, he can't get around him.
That's not lack of effort.

I don't think he was inferring that. When Jamil is "off", his head isn't in the game....he makes dumb plays. When he is engaged, he is the best player on the floor.

Maybe not tonight.
See SJU game.
See Butler.
See Xavier.
In all of the TEN losses this season, except for two (4-6 Nova, 0-4 Creighton), Jamil attempted no more than 2 FTAs.
TWO FTAs.
That's a man who's not working hard to get to the glass, drawing contact, working the paint and is content settling for jumpers.
When Jamil settles for jumpers, that's usually BAD NEWS for MU's offense.

Couldn't agree more. I had a couple posts earlier this year saying how surprised I was at Jamil's one-on-one defense and how often he got beat. Yet he is an outstanding team defender and that is all about hustle and effort.

Fyi, Jamil had the flu for the St Johns game... Thus he sat the second half.

There definitely was an uptick in effort tonight, and it was illustrated by the way he rebounded. He went after the ball in a way I hadn't seen from him this season. Really good overall performance.

No excuses.
Jordan had the flu, too. ;p
Is anyone able to find highlights of this game online? Seems crazy that it'd be on FS1 in primetime, for their supposed flagship conference, but not a highlight reel to be found...
