Playing a team that has better big men (lets be honest) then us, anyone else realize the ridiculous amount of second chances Marquette had tonight, the intensity and hustle won the game tonight
Agreed, defensively we realized we weren't going to stop McRoberts one-on-one and did a nice job of using traps and doubles. Expect similar vs. Pitt and Georgetown.
We got a lot of rebounds from wing players (esp Fitz) sneaking into the middle late. Also, Burke pulled down some really tough boards in traffic.
Under Crean, IMO, we have always been an excellent offensive rebounding team and a suspect defensive rebounding team. Same was true last night until the end, when we controlled the defensive boards over the last 5 minutes or so.
Barro was HUGE last night. After our over rotations and excessive help early resulted in some wide open threes for Duke, Crean decided (correctly, as it turned out) not to provide Barro with help guarding McRoberts to keep the three point shooters under wraps. McRoberts missed a few bunnies, but all in all Barro did a great job forcing him to take tough shots.
