No problem. Great find and another shining example of why I'm proud he's our coach and a fantastic representative of our university.

This is great. This story makes a frustrating season on the court much more bearable, knowing this is the guy guiding our program.

"Darius was standing outside with Jimmy [Butler] and some other guys. We're coming around the corner, and they locked eyes, and Darius ran up to Logan and grabbed him and they both started crying in each other's arms outside the gym. All of that started with Buzz inviting us to practice."

Man, those JUCO kids sure are trouble.

Some beautiful stories in that article.

Despite what is a frustrating season, and one I can imagine is more so for the coaching staff than even us fans, it's reasons like these regarding Buzz Williams that I tell his story to friends and family alike when the topics turn to hard work and the true definition of success.

I absolutely love our coach.

Awesome:

"Google the names "Spencer Wilson" and "Buzz Williams." You won't find anything in the media, because Buzz never told the media. Same goes for the party he threw last year at a Milwaukee homeless shelter."

Humble, humble, humble.

Great article.  A reminder to everyone about what matters.

I'm wondering the same about getting involved with Buzz's Bunch.  I have a daughter a little over 2 with a rare genetic disorder....would love to get her up to Milwaukee for this.

Do it.  You will not be disappointed.  The kids go nuts, and the team feeds on that energy.  Cannot recommend Buzz's Bunch, nor thank Buzz and all associated, enough.

Just a reminder for all:  If you cannot use your tickets for a Buzz's Bunch game they will happily take them as a donation.  Just call the Athletic Department. Trust me, someone will appreciate your generosity.

It has to do with the sexual assault violations of a few seasons ago.  Buzz had a team meeting of some sort - can't remember all the details.  He didn't handle it the way it should have been handled.

But buckyville yahoos have took it to mean that he helped to cover up a rape to protect one of his players.  Which is an absurd conclusion that isn't based in fact anywhere.

Lots of cynical people (at "buckyville" and even in our own fan base) who think these coaches are all the same. They're not. We hit the Lotto with Buzz. After reading an article like this, long winded threads about Derrick vs John D seem even sillier. April 8, 2008 is a day every fan of Marquette basketball and Marquette values should celebrate. In Buzz we trust? You bet. I'm one proud "slurper" today.

That is a rather broad statement.  Most Badger fans are not bad.  Problem is that BadgerNation and Buckyville have a core of posters who rant on MU at every turn.  Then you get some followers who are clueless.  Just ignore these guys.  Get some of these on many message boards.

I have no love for Wisconsin or their fans, my interactions with Badger fans have turned me off from Badger football and hockey as well, but even still, that post made me gasp.  Its one thing if it was on Badgermaniac where there is often contentious dialogue between fans and I can see it done to get a rise out of Silver or jtrash, but I couldn't believe it.  It was pathetic and beyond petty.

As time goes by, I realize that I don't hate Bo Ryan and his basketball team, per se.   He is a good coach, he runs his system well.   I have come to absolutely loathe some of the bucky fanbase.   I want all Wisconsin teams to lose all game just because it will cause these bottom feeding sub-humans pain.  Sad, pathetic creatures.

They have nothing in their miserable lives except a football team that loses very big game it plays in a thoroughly awful conference and a basketball team that folds like a cheap suit every March.

It really is telling of what a pathetic life that lacks any true purpose and revolves around a sport can lead to.  True venom like that can only result from that type of empty life that has no true meaning.  I'm grateful I'm not one of them. I sympathize for those close to people like that.

No doubt Buzz pity's them.  He probably prays for them

Leave the UW-Oshkosh & UW Washington County fans alone!

But seriously, does anyone believe for a second these are UW grads?  These are morons who couldn't sniff a MATC degree.  The Madison grads I know are well reasoned folsk who at worst chide me about no football team. All this adolescent stuff is the work of idiots who couldn't tell you the difference between Southeast & Lake Shore.

Here's a nice Badger post;

You should have been banned.  The leadership during the rape investigation was VERY Catholic.

Let's throw a little bigotry into the mix.

Yep. Always had fun banter with people who actually attended Madison. The ones who went to UW-Bumblef*ck are the worst.

When you are good at something, you don't have to tell people, they tell you.   When you are a good person, you don't have to tell people, they tell you.     Being able to name drop doesn't make you cool.   If you are all that, they drop your name.     Somewhere in the bible it says to pray privately, give privately, do for others privately, not for show.    Buzz, good on ya', mate.

I too sent Buzz an email telling him how proud I was that he was our coach, and he got back to me a few hours later thanking me. He may not be the best game coach (yet) but he's among the game's best people.

Exactly.  They do teach a few things at UW.  These are the dreaded Hyphens.

Great article.

I kind of feel sorry for some of these Badger fans.  What a depressing way to live life.

Sadly, that's how I feel about a few of our posters, too, guys who seem to get zero joy out of rooting for their team. For instance, those who constantly, joylessly rail about a coach unable to recruit big men and about "slurpers" who refuse to use one mediocre season as an excuse to turn on a proven winner.

Hard to call it sarcasm when you have said or implied the same thing multiple times before and NOT been sarcastic.
