EVP. Hell of an idea. Not sure if it will ever get much use, but, then again, I'm not a Harvard stats guy. I'd love to see a list of EPVs for MU players throughout the years. I'm better Novak would be pretty high. Because of shooting trouble, I'm betting DJ would be pretty low. I'm not sure anyone on this current team would be much above average at all.
I also wonder if this could somehow be used to evaluate defensive player impact as well.

I love these kinds of stats. Especially in regards to baseball - been reading Bill James since early '80's.
Not all of the stats are real user friendly though. Gotta be able to spend some time with them to be comfortable.

One of my many part time high school jobs was as a page in the main branch of the Bridgeport Public Library and discovered Bill James earliest abstracts in the stacks and have been hooked on his writing ever since. Seems to me that quantifying basketball statistics into useful data would be monumentally more difficult than baseball given the team nature of the game.
It's a shame they don't open this data up - teams would be getting free insights from the data science community.
