Question:
As of this writing (2/7) only 3 players have not won a SOTG. Who is most likely to win one before the end of the year?
Option 1: Jake
votes: 38
Option 2: JJJ
votes: 23
Option 3: Dawson
votes: 7
Option 4: None of the above
votes: 16
I voted Jake. He has the potential to get hot and put up a bunch of threes in a game.
Minutes alone should make Jake the heavy favorite.
No love for Dylan Flood?
I suspect JaJuan will have a breakout game yet....
Jake on his three point potential alone.
Going with my namesake Jajuannaman, I think he'll catch fire and make some game changing plays before it's all said and done.
Was tempted to go with NONE OF THE ABOVE! but it wasn't a write-in. It's gotta be a write-in.
I voted None of the above because I think it is more likely that none of them will earn a SOTG than any one of them will. If I had to pick the most likely of the 3, I'd pick Jake, simply because of minutes.

Similar to Lazar Hayward who had a shaky frosh season and had a breakout game against Villanova in a late February game at the BC.
If posters based SOTG on defense, Jake would have already won it. If he comes up with a 12-14 point game with critical points at critical times plus 2-3 steals, 4-5 boards, a couple assists and a block - all of which I believe he can do - he should get it.

Can we please stop the Jake is a great defender talk? He gives 100% effort and plays the scouting report (allegedly). Buzz values that and that is why he plays. But he is extremely limited physically, to even be expected to be an above average defender. If he is an above average defender, what does that make Jerel McNeal, Dominic James, Roney Eford etc.....? I like the kid and I am by no means ripping him, but his value to the team is effort and spacing the court for Davante. He is adequate on defense.
That said, I voted for Jake because he has an opportunity to shoot us to a victory or two. Wish he showed the courage to pull the trigger every night like he did against St. Johns when there was nothing left to play for.
I personally believe that all are unlikely. When Jake has been our best player, we lose. And that's not his fault.

He is a great team defender. McNeal, James, and Eford were all great on the ball defenders. Jake is always where he needs to be. His help defense is fantastic. I've seen him take shots from 7 footers because he is always sliding in to deny the easy basket. He has also shut people down. He was guarding Brandon Young almost the whole game and Young scored exactly 0 points
Exactly zero?
When his a single game scoring total not exact?
Voted JJJ, think he will continue to earn more minutes as he is still getting back into shape after the injury.
On another note, it seems inexcusable for Jamil to only have one SOG...he is truly the key to turning this season around.

In all fairness it's Brandon young isn't exactly mr consistent
Jake wins!
