Looking a bit ahead, but this years BET will be very different than in years past.
Any team that finishes in the top 6, starts playing on Thursday, and 3 wins for the championship. For a down year for MU, this years tournament is prime for making a lil run.
I'm hoping our 11 man rotation is an advantage in a densely packed tournament schedule. Maintaing hope for a run here. Go MU.
I'd like to hold out hope for a tourney run as well, but considering our 2-8 record in away games and the fact that we haven't won back to back conference games all year, I won't hold my breath!
Hoping we come into NYC with a sense of urgency, for the first time in 8 years we will be fighting for our tournament lives.

Maybe we didn't win it in 2010 or 2011 but we still came in needing to fight for our tournament lives.

Not so much like this season. MU has been out of the NCAA discussion the entirety of 2014. Being this irrelevant hasn't happened in a long time. It's a much different fight than being on a bubble and needing a win in MSG to solidify a bid.

We got a 6 seed in 2010. 2011, yes.

We have more of an uphill battle this year for sure. But if you look at Lunardi's tweets from just a couple weeks ago there are several MU mentions on the bubble. I think we have a much better chance at getting in than people here seem to think. Not likely, but not as far fetched as some who claim we need to go 7-1 with a BET victory or two. 6-2 with 1 BET win and I feel pretty decent about our chances.

2011 we were an 11 seed that knocked off 3 seed Syracuse to advance to the sweet 16.
2010 you're correct that we were the 6 seed who lost a heartbreaker to 11 seed Washington in the first round. I was a senior on spring break in Cancun and about 60 of us went to a bar because we were told that they'd be showing the game. Turns out they weren't and we were watching the bottom line until about 5 minutes left when CBS finally switched to our game. Thank God we were in Mexico otherwise I would've been very pissed when Pondexter hit that layup.

I agree it's not like this season. But at 20-11 in 2009-2010 I can't imagine us in.

Ouch that must've hurt seeing as it was about 5 minutes left when our 16pt (?) lead began to be chipped away.
I recall that Washington game came on the heels of those equally brutal b-jays against Stanford ('08) and Missouri ('09) in the tourney. Heartbreaking 3-year stretch. Anyway, 3 games in the Big East tourney doesn't seem so bad. Would be awesome if G'town has a great second half and the Big East gets another bid. Could be a five or even six bid league if an étranger sneaks in.

We were up by 13 with 9 minutes left. SMH...
Gotta play like your hair is on fire, hey?

I wish I had been in Cancun. I was watching the game with a Washington alum. Damn! Lost the game, eliminated from the tournament and stripped of bragging rights all in one fell swoop.
Didn't UConn do it in 2011....after a mediocre season, run the table in the BET and beyond?
We ain't got no Kemba Walker strap on
Anything is possible, but if we finish in the bottom four we will need to win the tournament. Finishing above the bottom four we will need at least two wins for a chance of an at large bid. Three wins would be an automatic bid.
I'm hoping someone else takes care of St. John's. I think that they are the toughest matchup for us in the whole conference, and, of course, they will be on their home floor.
Wanted to bump this..... Booked my flights for Thursday and Sunday morning (God forbid we lose on Wednesday night) and booked hotel.
What does everyone recommend for cheap tickets? Is the full strip uppers for $180 the best deal?
