It's gotten old...for everyone....me included...the constant back/forth, and pros/cons of Derrick/Dawson. So, I'll promise to the Scoop community to not comment on Derrick from here on out till the season is over.
Sorry to those here who I've annoyed - I enjoy being a member of Scoop - and even some* of the back and forth....but in this case....the debate has gone too far...and I've participated in and also facilitated the continued discussion.
Hopefully, the Providence game serves as a springboard and we can go on run and still make tourney. Feel there is too much talent on the team to not make it this year...
Sincerely,
Ners
Thank you!
We all love the team a lot, and we all get carried away from time to time (me as well).
We almost made it two months in between a poster's self-imposed moratorim about D. Wilson.

Plus 100. Now be strong and don't lose it Ners.
+1. For the best.
Even though I agreed with you, Ners, it probably did go on too long. But, hey, it's a Marquette basketball forum and it is one of the biggest issues on the team.
Ners, December 9th:
"Okay....I'll sign the moratorium and give it a rest out of respect to the moderators of the board, and to Derrick - who from all I know is a very good kid, and is doing his best - which is all we can ask ultimately.
So, sorry for all of the negative remarks I've made regarding Derrick - it isn't usually in my character to be hyper critical of anyone or anything in our program.
Sorry Derrick if you read this."

can we switch to debating how many minutes Thomas should get ;D
agreed on the Derrick moratorium - he played well last night (minus the free throws as Buzz stated) - i am comfortable with Derrick playing, I am also comfortable with Dawson playing...

Yes. we also need to nail down the correct minutes for Otule, Burton and Juan.
Ok, I'll agree to the cease-fire so long as nobody shouts "I told you so" if Dawson plays and makes a mistake or two and/or Derrick makes a great play or two.
Ners,
Love your passion for MU bball but this had gone too far - not much left of the dead horse we've all been beating. This season has been frustrating and taken its toll on the coaches, players and fans. Win or lose, hope we can all be pulling in the same direction from here on out. Don't know about this year, but I still believe the future looks bright.

Fat chance that somebody will not pull one or both of those stunts. The important thing here is that we all support Ners in coming down from his addiction. We must all mellow out and recognize that all the players are there because da coach picked them, so if we do become frustrated, we should vent on da Coach, who is making 2.5 million zoidies per year. The other guys are only student athletes trying to please their instructors, their fans, their friends, their families, and da coach who picked them.

Thanks Willie...well put. And funny too as I reflect.
Thanks to the others who commented as well...
I'll be sure to adhere fully to this moratorium till the season's over and regardless of outcome..probably will have mellowed on it all any way.

Next year will be fun, but I think two years from now is when we really shine.
I will believe this when I see it (or don't see it I guess).
GO MARQUETTE!
Still gonna get on Derrick when his play sucks, but I'm not going to compare him to Dawson anymore. Baby steps.

I was thinking the same thing. DW, and Dawsome, are big parts moving forward for the rest of the year. We are passionate about our team and if we go on a run in the near future, the intensity will just rise. With that rise in intesnisty will come finger pointing and potential lineup changes and tweeks.
To suggest that will stop is not true. It would probably be better to say a moratorium on the constant bitching about DW. But......... if he shoots less than 50% FT, etc. he doesnt get a pass either- he is a player on this team.
Good move, Ners. But I hope that you realize that Derrick has another year.

lol. yea. the "derrick apologists" are the more likely group to do something like this. ::) perfect evidence in sunbelt's post below.
It's not going to be as much fun for me to yell "Suck it, Ners!", every time DW makes a good play. - I guess it's worth it.

LOL - That's funny...glad to know I've made it into your living room - but you can still do it...I posted enough over and over and over that the point was made...to where it should still be fun for you to shout it out when Derrick makes a good play.
Ners,
Please reconsider your Derrick Moratorium 2.0.
I'll take a season long ban if you quit talking about Derrick, and if you quit talking about Derrick & Todd, I'll take a lifetime posting ban.
You pick it. I'll do it. I am not kidding. Just please stop turning every topic into Derrick (or Todd).

Sorry...I fell off the wagon hard...can't promise I'll stop...plus your contributions here are appreciated. Would hate to see you go away Ammo.
Without discussion about the peculiar continued use of Derrick and Jake for max minutes....this board basically goes dead....every season has a different story....and this season's story for MU hoops has been the backcourt...to take it off the table for discussion essentially eliminates most discussion pertaining to MU hoops this year.

Actually, there have been and will be other things to discuss. However, YOU seemingly turn every thread into a Derrick-Dawson debate and make the same points regarding those two players over and over and over and over and over and over and over to the point that several posters have gone on self-imposed hiatus because they're sick of seeing every thread become the same thing.
Guns - I'll do my part and stop responding to Ners' endless posts regarding Derrick and Dawson.

Fair enough.
I've had my fill of that topic, and it seems to permeate every thread, so I think it's best that I retire for a while.
I'm not trying to be dramatic, just being honest.
Enjoy the rest of the season, everybody. Go MU.

I'm out for a while too.

Not really. We'd all get along just fine without it. I promise. 95% of the posters here are done with the discussion. Seriously. Stop. Everyone will be happier.
And not to be a jerk, but I'd rather have Ammo here than you continue to post on it.
Maybe we should start a tally for how many people Ners has driven away from Scoop?
I'm not going away, but I am done enabling. Congratulations Ners, you are my very first ignore. I am a very patient guy, even Dreadman is not on my ignore list!
You are a smart guy. You make good points. You spoil it by attacking those who don't need to be attacked, making up stats, cherrypicking stats, utilizing your mysterious and supposedly awesome basketball career as a source for legitimacy, and being unceasing in your mantra.
I hope you find your way back. I'll check back after the season to see if you've mellowed out.
