We got a lot of production from a lot of Warriors. I've got three nominees: Davante "Big Sheesh" Gardner, Deonte "Bane" Burton, and Derrick "Whipping Boy" Wilson
I've got Derrick Wilson, 4 points, couple of boards, 8 assists, 4 steals, and 1 TO. Not to mention he was the main factor in disrupting the Friars' offense in the first half.
I think it's Ox - again.
Took awhile for someone to get the thread up. Is it because there's no easy pick, or because of others like me who need to zip it for a couple days and vote for Derrick Wilson? Loved the steals - show me "disruptive" defense over "lockdown" any day, and loved that the assists were aggressive, playmaking passes.
Mayo clutch scoring when it was really needed
Todd. It was good Todd tonite, he made important late game shots, made all his FT's.
Honorable mention to Burton for a full stat line in 15 minutes and DG for a solid game.
Derrick - 4 pts, 2 rebs, 8 asts, 4 steals...but more importantly, turned Cotton's knees to jelly.
GREAT contributions by lots of guys, but Derrick was a difference maker on both ends.
Mayo. He's slowly becoming that go-to guy we've wanted him to become.
D. Wilson for me (Big Mac picked him too)
Sorry TAMU, didn't see this or else it went up when I was posting. Good point re: Derrick.
Davante
D. Wilson. Tod close second , but 4 TO's puts him out of SOG for me

No worries, only beat you by a few seconds. I'm sure the mods will give us an assist
I though I would never say this, but Derrick Wilson is SOTG.

Didn't screw it up and did the job.
Give him the nod.
Derrick Wilson..... Shut down their best player in the First Half and Closed him out...
STOG... Derrick, Hats off....
Derrick.
Buzz for trying something different.
Required to choose a player, and I don't believe I'm going to say this, but I'd go with D Wilson.
I thought I was going to be the first to say Derrick. Feeling contrarian. Ox.
D. Wilson because of the 8 assists with only 1 turnover.
Wilson, Jamil.
I'm with Jim McIlvane. SOTG to Derrick.

I've been very critical of his play - but Derrick had the best game of his career tonite.
Derrick. Good penetration, passing, and defense (including four steals).
Sign me up for the never thought I'd say it club...derrick Wilson for sotg
While I am still a Dawson fan... Derrick Wilson was the best he's been in an MU uniform. He dominated Cotton and had several fantastic passes.
Todd was also great, but some poor TOs kept me from voting him.
GREAT use of MU's depth by Buzz.
I am also in the "Juan should be at the end of the bench" category.
I thought Derrick had his best all-around game ever tonight. He controlled the pace of the game. A few times, he drove past his man and created for others, which is what a PG is supposed to do. Plus, his defense on Cotton, especially in the first half, sent the message that Marquette was not gonna be forked with tonight.
Here's how well he played: At one point midway through the second half after Dawson lost his man, I turned to my wife and said: "I'm not sure how long Buzz can keep Derrick on the bench. Wait ... did I just really say that?"

Ners says Derrick, so there.
You'll have to go to the other Providence SOTG thread to read my impassioned nomination for Derrick.
Hold on, everybody. Don't all of y'all run over there at once, you'll knock Scoop off its axis!
Gardner....was our consistent offensive source when the "experienced lineup" played the last eight minutes. Pulled us back out of a tight game....always pull out.

Another vote for DWill from a non-DWill guy. Thought it was his best game as a Warrior. No or low turnovers; 8 assists on great passes. It would have been hard NOT to convert after most of those set-ups. If he played like this all year, half the content on this board would never have been key stroked.
Derrick.

That's what Buzz said in the post game interview with Homer. He had one TO called for a travel during the Providence press. It was a really close call, but I've seen Jamil do worse
DWll. Cotton had to work very hard for his points. Todd played well too.
1. Derrick for all around game.
2. Jamil for being there when we needed a bucket and being solid overall.
3. Mayo for playing very well. If it wasn't for the 4 TO's he might have been number 1.
Derrick gets it from me. In a game where no one else had a game that was better than "decent".
Todd and Jamil 1 and 1a. They got buckets when they were needed most.
Derrick.
D Will, because it will piss off Ners.
Derrick because, according to the media guide I picked up last night, he can squat almost 500 lbs.
Derrick.
There are a lot of complaints about Derrick's shooting, but to me the biggest problem with him is his ultra-conservative style, not penetrating and dishing and not passing inside. Last night he did the things he is capable of doing. He pushed the ball, drove the ball, made solid entry passes. His defense was excellent, he played his old defensive style (a lot of hand-checking, but no fouls).
Amazing for the reward mediocrity crowd. Four points, 8 assists and his guy goes for 20. The TV crew selected Ox, and they have no Ox to grind. There is absolutely very little objectivity on this board. It s more "feelings"
Give it to Burton for his dunk.

Sure Cotton had 20 points, but he took 18 shots (39%) to get them and had 5 turnovers. He was defended very well.
Gardner was the leading scorer and absent a differentiating performance from anybody, that's who the TV guys are going to pick. 4-11 from the floor, I don't think it was one of his better games. Of course an average Gardner is usually better than Derrick at his best, but last night I think Derrick is the right call.
Derrick did a LOT of things right. I go with D wiil

That is hilarious. Other than about 10 posters here, you are one of the least objective people on this board. Great stuff. :D

Derrick for sure..
CT, The style of play (more up tempo, more pressure on D, mixing in fresh legs).. all this greatly contributed to Derricks and MU success last night. With Derrick and Jake on the floor at the same time MU can't sit back and play half-court ball, especially against a zone D. This game may have been a changing point for Buzz and staff in realizing how to most successfully utilize the talent MU has on the roster.

Sorry you missed the game. If you had watched, you'd have seen how Derrick threw Cotton totally off his rhythm. You might have also noticed that, while Cotton normally has a nearly 3:1 assist to turnover ratio (5.8:2.1 to be exact), he had a 0.8:1 ratio (4 assists and 5 turnovers) last night. In contrast, Derrick's ratio was 8.0:1 - exactly 10 times Cotton's.
But you're right, it's all about individual points scored. ::)

Thank you for your opinion, but I unlike many others here, do not look through blue and gold glasses. Now, please do your best to debunk that opinion.

Willie you are a negativo. That is fine. I like hearing from positivos (slurpers by your terminology) and negativos both. The truth is somewhere in the middle normally.
There is no way this site is the only place you have heard that you are negative. My guess is people in your life have stated this to you on multiple occasions.
So for you to talk about the bias of the positivos is funny. That is how I see it.
Willie's problems may be traceable to the other thread discussing drug and alcohol use in the UW school system.

That's right Dano--you are guessing. My guess is that your whole life is a series of guesses, I am guessing. Because somebody does not look at everything MU el positivo, like you religiously do, that makes them negative. Here are some positives for you:
Al McGuire was the best coach MU has ever had.
I love MU basketball.
MU's record will be somewhat better next year.
Buzz Williams is a great coach.
I am positive that the lonesome cowboy image that Buzz projects is genuine
Derrick is a great PG, an elite lockdown defender and a game changer
I am positive that you are the best MU basketball fan in existence, but hey, all MU fans are the best
Income taxes are cool and need to be increased to save the country
MU will make the dance this year
Every poster to this board loves MU, except the Badger trespassers
Guessing about somebody's life is like watching reality TV
I am positive that things are improving for MU this year
Basketball is a game
People that glorify everything Buzz does also think that Aaron Rodgers is the greatest QB of all time
Ryan Braun did not take illegal substances and also thinks Rodgers is the greatest QB of all time
I am positive that global warning is destroying our way of life and must be regulated out of existence
Buzz's rotations are in the best interest of winning and always have been
I am positive that anonymous posters to MU Scoop always guess correctly--at least that would be my guess
The truth is always in the middle, because there is no right or wrong
Somebody should start a thread ranking MU fans, like the one ranking our current roster. Dano would positively be in the top 5
Guesses are better than objectivity all the time

It's a throwback :) I'll look for an update next time he wins a SOTG, since a new one is just a few hours away.
