In the first game this year (Nov 8, Southern) he was 15 for 20 (75%) in FTs
Over the next 12 non-conference games he was 25 for 42 (59.5%) in FTs
Since BE pay started with Creighton (6 games ago), he is a sizzling 30 for 32 (94%)!
Why the turnaround? What is Gardner doing now that he was not earlier? Is is merely confidence?
You knew he was not going to shoot 65% for the year. Was there not a game this year where the opposing team was purposefully fouling him at the end? I just laughed.
Scouting based on early season statistics can be misleading.

There is no substitute for a mother's love
Free throws are like closing pitching or putting. It's all mental.
He was clearly in a mental funk that he has pulled himself out of.

Have we correlated Gardner's improvement with Larry Williams tenure?
And now any debate about Automatic can be put to rest. Everyone should be in full song on Saturday. Mamma says so.

Honestly I think that may have something to do with the turnaround. People stopped doing it when Otule was shooting a better percentage when he was. He has earned the chant again though.

No, but according to Esard's post below, there is a direct correlation in some people's minds that when Gardner struggles at the line, Otule improves at the ine. Now if Buzz can frame those times statistically, and predict when the opponents will foul, then he can start substituting Otule for OX, and vice versa.

I wasnt saying that per say. I was just saying Otule doing better then Gardner and the fact that the students stopped chanting "automatic" may have given Ox the push he needed.

Sorry, did not say you said it--others may have said it. Besides, it should have been in teal.

Sort of like the (believe it is) Bud Light commercials showing the fans doing weird things to have their team score/win. Whatever works.
