Title: This years team
Post by: DCWarriors04 on January 18, 2014, 03:13:44 PM
Really needs to do some serious soul searching. If they aren't embarrassed by their play then this team shouldn't be wearing the Warrior colors.

With the lineup that played the entire second half you can't be surprised at the outcome of that game. You go 3-22 for a stretch and leave Burton on the bench.

This team is going to the N.I.T = Not in Tournament.

Looked like we were about 4 for 22 from 3. Ja. Wilson is a terrible soft defensive player. And he sure as hell is not a leader.

Seriously, something has to change to get this team out of it's offensive funk.  I trust Buzz will make those changes.  Nothing to lose at this point.

He leads like a Walk On Freshmen.... Not a senior. Theres no NBA roster who would pick him up. None

When he loses, you call him crazy, when he wins you call him eccentric.  Where have I heard that before?

4 for 23 from three.

30% FG percentage

14 turnovers.

Not sure what changes we can make, since we can't trade for shooters.  We missed a ton of wide open in rhythm threes and intermediate jump shots and layups and putbacks.  There is no shot so easy we can't miss it.

Where is that brilliant checklist?  We found the unmentionable conference loss!

Not sure this is even an NIT team at this point. Might be at the point on March 12 or 13 where we'll all just be happy to have this thing over with so we can all enjoy the tournament in peace.

Or repeating the same thing over and over (terrible offensive players on the floor, including Derrick setting up in the corner on final play of regulation) and expecting different results.

Need to start recruiting some shooters.Have Ahmed Hill next year who can shoot it.Cohen is ok,but I would not call him a shooter.Have Noskowiak in 2015.Sign Schwartz also.6'8' stretch 4 that can bury the three.

0 - 13 from 3 in 2nd half.  Just awful.

Good thing they kept Thomas in as the "shooting" guard.  Why not try Anderson & Burton more when it was obvious that what was on the floor wasn't working?

I said earlier in the year to a friend that this team will go as far as Ja. Wilson and Mayo (their two most talented players, arguably) take them.  Problem is, those players are remarkably inconsistent.  Hoping for one of this to step up this year was a false hope, as I see.

Buzz won't play any of those guys because Juan hustles more in practice.

Don't make excuses like that, we still played Todd Mayo, the guy with a polished game his freshman year, Jamil Wilson (the senior who should be stepping up) and Davante Gardner (similar to Jamil) much of the 2nd half and overtime and couldn't get it done.  These guys are just playing poorly on the offensive end.

So I missed the game due to my daughter's game.  Imagine my surprise when I get in the car  and turn on the radio to find out my 7TH GRADE DAUGHTER made more second half three pointers in her game (one) than all of the scholarship athletes playing for MU combined.  And in no way do I post that to brag about my daughter.

How is that even possible?

It's not their heart that I question.  It's their shooting eye.

Assuming we finish with a .500 record. the way we are playing that might not happen.

I agree that those three are more than capable of scoring. But we're not playing three on three. Buzz also subs like a madman every game this year, except for the 2nd half today. We needed something offensively badly, and Burton has proven already that he can score, but we see him for maybe 30 seconds. Davante was completely gassed with about 8 minutes left in regulation and was no longer fighting to get position in the post. Then we started shooting jump shots and they were all short. Nothing made sense about that 2nd half.

So how can our best player be gassed with 8 minutes left in the game?  That is this team in a nutshell.

If the problems on this team were just one or two players that could be corrected. That is not the problem.

Poor Team shooting, little consistency, Lack of focus, confusion and/or no set plays, no drives other than straight lines, no steals, no off speed or sharp changes in direction, poor screens, poor passing, no confidence and no leadership. It is time Buzz faces reality and plans for the future. This team has not demonstrated they have the heart to change. They lost the Game in their collective minds before they get on the court. If they don't have heart and the willingness to fight, bench most juniors/seniors and train the youth. Sometimes hard decisions must be made. This year needs to be sacrificed unless there is a change in heart soon.

It baffles my mind how many open looks he gets that he never takes. Has he been told not to shoot it?
