Lots of good points made in your post...and I'm as big of Buzz fan as there is - but feel he's missed the boat thus far on what the team needs - more PT for Burton, Dawson, JJJ, Mayo - and much less for Derrick, Juan, Otule. In my view - the rotation should consist only of the following:
Dawson, Mayo, Jake, Burton, JJJ, Jamil, Gardner, Juan/Steve Taylor.
Having said that, it does appear Buzz is moving some PT away from the vets and more to Burton, JJJ and Dawson (sure hope this continues). Really feel Burton needs to be a 25-30 minute a game player, and live with his growing pains defensively (yet Burton has shown an ability to get steals, disrupt, block some shots - maybe not an ideal positional defender yet, but gotta live with that because the upside offensively is too great to have sitting on bench for 25 minutes a game.)

Hey cheer up Silly. After this year, we lose our entire frontcourt of starters and 4 starters total. But not to worry, we will still have plenty of playing time available for the newcomers. Even though we will lose about 40 ppg, Buzz will have capable people to step in. Likely the starting lineup next year will be:
PG De. Wilson (Du. Wilson will be a freshman and will need to wait until the following year)
2G Mayo
SF Anderson
Center Taylor or Pierce by default (Fischer will not be ready until 2nd semester, and will still be a Frosh, so will need to wait until the following year)
PF Burton
Now that lineup will inspire tons of confidence and lead us to domination in the BEast and an Elite 8 appearance. Other talented newcomers will need to wait their turn under the Buzz Culture, but that is OK because that is how the system works, and a return to the Elite 8 will erase any bad memories from this year.

*same as above. but with deonte getting many minutes.
*same as above. but noticing that while the three freshmen were in, we were scoring slightly more, but giving up lots of open defensive looks.
*the importance of the ignore function
look. it's one thing to come on here and have opinions and show stats. As an example, i've had many discussion with Ners about Dawson/Derrick. and i've enjoyed those back-and-forths. it's another thing entirely to come on here and make rants that clearly are not well thought out or have no real substance. Heckling Jake again, after last night? Talking about Burton, without noting his minutes lately? I mean seriously, think before you type.

Derrick Wilson has been in the rotation for a S16 and E8 team as a freshman and sophomore but deserves walk on minutes as a junior? Otule started and played solid minutes on last year's E8 team but his minutes should go to Steve Taylor, who has been worse than awful this year? If you're dumping games, yes, but why? We don't even get a higher draft choice out it. Are you totally giving up? If that's the case, take Gardner and Jamil out of the rotation, too. They can't help us next year.

Anybody advocating for more time for JJJ should seriously look at the box scores, especially against quality opponents. He should be playing about what he's playing...if not less.
Don't understand why Kentucky can play 5 freshman and win the NCAA, yet here we are stuck playing mid major players for the majority of the minutes. I understand the working hard in practice theory earns playing time and to extent that is justified. However, I would like to see the Otule rules applied to rest of the mid major players , they get their start play a fee minutes each half and sit down and cheer the team.
All Conference! That's great!

Is this for real? The guys at Kentucky were first-round draft picks, including the 1st and 2nd players selected in the '12 draft.

I don't think Jake has shown a ton of improvement. I think he's been this good all along this season. I just think we are finally running plays to take advantage of what he does.
What is interesting to me is that the past two games (well one and a half games) we've looked better on offense. We're getting Gardner one on one opportunities and finally running Jake off of some screens to get some good looks at the 3. As I've stated many times since the season started, I am not of fan at all of Derrick Wilson as a basketball player, but figured if Buzz doesn't think we have better options, we probably don't. I still think if we lessen his minutes so the defense doesn't settle into the Derrick one-man zone, it will benefit us down the road.
Now Dawson looked pretty good last night, but it was only one game. I hope to see him get minutes again on Saturday to see if he can build on it, because I think I'd rather see him at the point when Derrick sits than Jamil. I am not at all convinced that he will so much as take the warmups off if the Wilsons are not in foul trouble.

Lenny - We generally agree on a lot of takes, but obviously not regarding Derrick. Derrick's role the last 2 season is exactly what it should be - that of a backup, caretaker point guard he can give you 8-10 minutes per game in relief and not totally screw the game up. He is not going to help you win games - and you absolutely need a starting PG getting 31 minutes per game to be a catalyst and difference maker out there.
I find it interesting to note that we got blown out at Creighton and struggled greatly to beat DePaul, scoring 49 points and 66 respectively - with Derrick getting 31 and 27 + minutes in both those games. Now on the road against a very solid Xavier team who is hard to beat at home - and with our 2nd best scorer, and perhaps best player Jamil Wilson getting only 15 minutes - we were extremely competitive and had a chance to win the game and scored 79 points and had our best shooting game from the 3 and one of our better games FG% from 2 point land. What changed? Derrick only got 22 minutes and Dawson got 17 (and all 17 running the point, and coming in long stretches of play, not fragmented 2-3 minutes stints playing the 2 guard.)
