Title: Extremely Frustrated
Post by: dgies9156 on January 01, 2014, 10:43:25 AM
When Midnight Madness began, I was cautiously optimistic we had the beginnings of something special. We had incredible talent and a returning nucleus, even without Vander Blue, that on paper made us a powerhouse. Many of the writers who covered the Big East also thought so, as they made us the choice to win the conference. We were ranked in the Top 25 and there was hope we could continue a string of success.

What has happened since is embarrassing. I recognize that sometimes it takes time for freshmen to gel, but this is ridiculous. I also understand we were going to lose some games to good teams. But this is ridiculous too. We have beaten no one worth a darn. I know Buzz is trying but it's time to recognize what's happening isn't working. I've done something with this team I have not done since the Mike Deane years -- become so frustrated I turned the TV off, or tell my wife to watch a rerun of Green Acres or Andy Griffith!

Buzz is trying -- he's ultimately to blame because he recruited and coached this team. But something is missing in their hearts and souls that Buzz can't coach. It seems like there is complacency arising from having "made it" last year. Or, in the case of our freshmen, most haven't made the transition from high school big shot to college player. The latter is certainly appearing from time to time as these guys get out-hustled and out-thought. Guys, you aren't the BMOCs anymore!

I hope this team matures quickly. Otherwise, I'll be glad when baseball season gets here!
