Title: Samford SOTG
Post by: tower912 on December 28, 2013, 05:09:08 PM
Because the mod asked for it.........

Honestly, I can't pick one.   So many guys had solid games.   JJJ, Deonte, Todd are probably the leading candidates

Deonte, for bringing down the house.

Hah, thanks tower.  I'll have to look at the box score, but I did like how jjj came out firing... And made his first few shots.

DB - heck of a stat line, bonus points for the dunk

4-7    0-0    5-9    4 (2/2)    2    2    3    2    2    13

Gotta give it to Burton.  Similar points as JJJ and Mayo, but he had one less turnover and the three blocks were great.  Oh, and that monster dunk.

Burton
JJJ
Hot Toddy

Todd. Totally under control today, if anything he passed up good looks to try to get others better ones.

Deonte. Played a solid game and that nasty dunk pushes him over the other candidates.

Gonna add Derrick as someone who should be considered. 9 boards, 3 assists, and 2 steals from the PG position. Also FINALLY made a beautiful entry pass.

However, the SOTG should go to the man recieving that entry pass:

BANE!!! He would have had an even bigger game if he hadn't missed four FTs in a row

JJJ.

But really a toss up between him Deonte and Todd.

Went with JJJ, because of fewer freshman mistakes.  Excluded Todd, because I thought it would be nice to get a freshman their first SOTG.

FINALLY made a beautiful entry pass.

Hard to make an entry pass when your defender sags 4 feet.

I, too, liked Burton and Mayo today. Also, another very solid defensive game for Otule.

I'd go that order:

1. Burton; 2. Mayo; 3. Otule.

Burton the bull for tearing down the china shop with that dunk and a nice dime to Gardner. Two exciting plays in an otherwise no descript game.
