New Big East gives MU no room for error
Three years ago Marquette found itself in a position early in the season where its non-conference results left a hazy outlook toward the rest of the season. The Golden Eagles went 9-4 before the turn of the calendar, beating the likes of cupcakes Prairie View A&M, Longwood, Texas A&M Corpus-Christi and Centenary, among others. I'm an optimist but 8 top 50 games in this year's Big East vs. 12 top 50 games in 3 year's ago Big East isn't as bad as I though it'd be...If you count WV, MU won 4/12 of those games(33%) in 2010-2013. Do they have to win 4/8 (50%) year? I'd say at least 3/8 with a overall 12-6 in conference.
Win your home games, and steal one on the road against Nova, Gtown, or Creighton. Easy, right? ;)
No room for error, no doubt. One thing we will have going for us in the NBE is an actual chance to win the BET. I wonder what oddsmakers had us even last year as co-regular season champions to win the BET? 15%?
I would say even if we finish fifth in the regular season standings we will have better than a 15% chance to win the Big East Tourney.
With an 11-7 conference record on an 8-1 / 3-6 split, MU's 2013-14 conference games will produce a better RPI than MU's 2010-11 conference games.
Could really use a quality road win though from a qualitative perspective. Might as well start off winning in Omaha before 2014 even begins.
MU has the talent to win BE. Question is do they have the chemistry and work ethic. IMHO
We need the rest of the big east to finish strong in non confrence

Some critical games coming up to that end:
DePaul at Northwestern
Nova at #2 Syracuse
Wake Forest at Xavier
Providence at #23 UMass
And bunch of cupcakes that must be fully digested.
I think the league will finish 8-2 in out of conference, the Nova-Cuse would be a huge win
