When he was cut by the sixers, he had a partial guaranteed contracted that paid him $55k
http://www.hoopsrumors.com/vander-blue
After getting cut by the sixers Blue signed to play in Israel with Maccabi Rishon LeZion.
Since he signed (after the season began) he has played in all 7 games this season. Overall his team is 3 and 8 and in 11th in a 12 team league.
Here are his stats
http://www.basket.co.il/PlayerPage.asp?PlayerNumber=04&TeamId=882&cYear=2014&lang=en
Averages per game (7 games)
25 minutes
11 points
46% from 2pt range (25 for 62)
22% from 3 pt range (4 for 18)
60% FTs (18 for 30)
3 rebounds a game
2.7 assists/game
So in 25 minutes of play he chucks 9 two-point shots (46%) AND 2.5 treys (22%). Gets to the foul line 4.3/game (60%). When he's not firing shots, he pulling down 3 rebounds and dishing 2.7 assists.
No one can accuse him of standing around when he gets in. But, these stats read more the Sophomore Vander and the late Junior year Vander.
Thoughts?
So, he's 55g's to the good. How many scheckles is he bein' paid in Israel? Or, do they pay in falafel?

Does he pay Pennsylvania taxes on that $55K even though he never played there? I'm curious how that works, especially with the Jock Taxes in this country where you pay based on where you play your games. I'm sure someone here knows.

Only in the Golan Heights.
What we really want to know is how Vander is getting along with the local military personnel?? Some statistics in that field of endeavor would be welcome.

Doc, please. That's an Army chick. The USAF has long understood that mission accomplishment is a function of personnel, equipment, doctrine, and training with the most important being the quality of the people we admit to the world's finest fighting force. To that end the Air Force has been the most selective branch of our military. Every candidate is vetted for character, integrity, intellect, and courage. But the Air Force also looks for that certain je ne sais quoi – the intangibles that make you want to serve with someone as a warrior. I share with you some of the Air Force's finest.

The "Conspiracy" exposed

Sorry Crash, I stand erected.
While at MU, I attended a conference on US military policy/international relations at West Point. Also in attendance were international relations students from other colleges and the other service academy's. Of the many highlights of an eye opening 4 days, the story I re-tell the most is of the young man from the Air Force Academy who, at the dance staged at the end of the event at the Hotel Thayer (attended by many local young ladies), told me to "watch this" and walked up to a three comely young lasses being entertained by several cadets, introduced himself and said simply, "I fly jets." The night ended well for that young man. Not so well for the cadets.

I remember rushing my future wife at the Ardmore Bar. Nothing was working so I played the "I'm gonna be a fighter pilot" card. After laughing hysterically she pointed out that I certainly wasn't one yet... I went back to McCormick alone after crashing and burning. Years later, I reminded her of that night and she remained unimpressed...

Chico
I wouldn't have touched this with a 10' pole while on Active Duty but I'm now on the Retired List so what can they do? Send me to Iraq??
Anyhow, one of the nicest, sweetest, and prettiest women in the USAF was on the MNC-I/III Corps Staff in '07 when I was the Close Air Support Chief. Capt Rachel Sherburne was the Asst Public Affairs Officer in Iraq. She was the LSU Homecoming Queen back in the day. Sharp as a tack she was much more than a pretty face. As you might imagine, she got too much attention uninvited around Camp Victory. The USAF fighter pilots in my team flew a lot of top cover for her to keep the Army dogs at bay. She has left AD and now does Catholic Ministry work with Wounded Warriors. A remarkable young woman.

My thoughts are that is incredibly premature to judge a player's success or failure based on his first seven games. And it isn't just the first seven games of the season-it's the first seven games in a new league, with the new style of play, on a new continent. Regardless of the suspected level of play, I think it's a bit unrealistic to expect him or most any other player to walk in and be a star right from the beginning. A few can do it, but the vast majority take time to adjust.
My other thought is the only way to know whether it was a good decision for Vander is to give him a year or so, and then ask him personally if he's happy with his decision. If the answer is yes, it was a good decision, regardless of what any of us think.

That's why (one reason, anyway) she is your wife-not a townie unduly impressed. I "rushed" my future wife at O'Ps.

I think many of them are cute. All in the eye of the beholder. I feel bad for women, the standards of what they should look like or the definition of beautiful is way too high. As a father of a daughter, it pains me to see the crap that is already starting with that nonsense to look a certain way.
At any rate, most of these gals are attractive to me, but to each their own.
Agree with you Chicos.
I'd even say it's unfortunate that how we are thinking of these women is based on their physical appearance, instead of their service to our country, but if they put the pictures out there I'm ok with saying they are hot :)
Not bad, but IDF women are about as good as it gets.

Maybe that has something to do with the mandatory military service requirement in Israel? That essentially means any "best of" photo shoot essentially has the entire population of Israeli women from whom to choose. What percentage of young American women serve in the military?

I don't know how old most Scoopers are, but I have decided that nobody over the age of, say, 30 should use the word "hot."
I came to that conclusion slowly, hearing many of my 50-something friends using it and sounding pretty dopey. (Kind of like saying, "bitchin'!" or "fuh-shizzle" or "whatevs.") And then, to cap it off, Kevin from The Office used "hot" about 10 times in one show and sounded like the doofus he is.
I go with "cute" or "pretty" or "attractive" or "beautiful," each of which sounds mature and definitive.

Some of the AF chicks are pretty good, some not so. But I am sure they are all nice ladies and Patriots. Now the chick sitting on the missle is difficult to see her face, but I do admit that the blockbusters she is carrying on her chest would make a big blast.

I am well over 30...but luckily couldn't care less if someone thinks it sounds stupid when I use "hot." Frankly, I think it's silly when someone tells others they can't use common slang just because of their age. It's kind of like when the "sit on their hands" crowd tells me I shouldn't wear a jersey to games, and should wear a sweater-vest instead. ::)
I sit in the fightin' 218, and will wear and say what I please. ;)
