I know this video has nothing to do with Marquette basketball, but I think there is a great quote in here from John Wooden that Marv Dunphy brings to light about disciplining his players. Marv is arguably the best volleyball coach ever in the history of men's volleyball in the United States (only USA National Team coach to win all 4 major tournaments in his quad to go along with 5 NCAA Titles at Pepperdine) who studied under the great John Wooden when he did his doctorate. He asked Wooden about disciplining his players and John asked if he was talking about on the court or off the court, so Marv asked how about both? John's response was, "I never wanted to bruise the dignity of the individual being disciplined...Discipline is what you do for someone not to someone." For those of us who think Buzz owes us an explanation as to why player X was suspended or disciplined you couldn't be more wrong. Buzz has it right.
By the way, Marv is as incredible of an individual as there is.
