Title: My Thoughts on the Shumpert Decision
Post by: Mayor McCheese on October 19, 2007, 06:41:35 PM
After I heard the decision I was upset, actually very upset.  I thought we were going to land him, and then I began to worry about our recruit class for the 08 year.  Then I looked at the Scout board, and realized we have some bigs on there that we are #1 for and look like we might get them.  The guards will always come to MU, I mean come on, its a gimme.  Numbers really don't mean all that much, if recruit classes mattered that much, MU would never compete, and teams like Duke would be constantly winning.  The things i am hearing about how Shumpert is going to be 1 and done, and I don't want players like that.  I don't want a player to play one year and then leave, it doesn't help the team.  Pretty much what I am saying is everyone on here is hurting from Shumpert choosing GTech over us (why you ask, I don't know, Thaddeus Young last year didn't benefit that much in a Paul Hewitt offense, their offensive plays looked like 5 guys all playing on the perimeter, and just playing 1 on 1... I think Bill Simmons called their offense Diarrhea Soup in the tourney)... But Marquette basketball will live on, and this year is going to be one of the best in MU history imho.  And next year I don't find to be any different
