Title: How good is Buzz?!
Post by: NersEllenson on December 18, 2013, 12:52:05 AM
Think all Scoopers can agree - other than perhaps "The Equalizer" - we are very fortunate to have Buzz Williams as our head coach.  Buzz will go down as a legend, and sure hope he remains at MU till retirement....

Just saw a stat on ESPN - Josh Pastner is 1-14 all time against Ranked Teams - yet Pastner gets a lot of cred as being one of the great young coaches - which he may be - but reminded me how much of a star we have in Buzz.

Thanks Coach Buzz - even if I've been giving you hell for the first time in my history for running Derrick at the point so much.   ;D

Honestly, I think most people have huge question marks about Pastner.  I don't see all the cred you are talking about, at least not out here and not of late.  Sure, when he was hired, but then actual games were played.

Whether Buzz goes down as a legend, who knows.  I remember hearing comments about how Kevin O'Neill would be a hall of famer one day considering what he had done at MU.  We just don't know.

As for the Equalizer, I have no doubt he appreciates Buzz and what he has done.  He just looks at things objectively.

Judgin' from his reported contract, the administration folks at Memphis think they got themselves a keeper.

It took over 16,300 posts, but you actually made me laugh out loud. Thanks.

As opposed to the rest of us who lack objectivity??

Not all of you, but there are a bunch that have a prefilter on during examination of the facts.    Or some here apply one standard to one team or coach or fanbase, but a completely different standard to a different team, coach, fanbase doing the exact same thing.

Equalizer is wrong plenty of times just as I am and many others here.  He's also right many times and called out for it because it doesn't conform properly with what the fans of this team want to hear or see, despite the evidence that backs him up.  It is in those situations that I'm talking about.

Here's the thing - there are elements in his contract that have not been reported by the masses that are INSANELY favorable. He owns that school. Owns it.

It's kind of a headache to get info from Memphis so that's perhaps why it's not reported on... but if the media folks who cry about certain contracts looked and understood Pastners, they'd freak out and report on it if they had any principles...
