Title: Are we NOT going to get an IL recruit for 09 and 10?

Seems like the wings of the recruiting process are spreading, but we're letting some local talent slip.

Maybe slipping on Illinois, but in part that is because there is more high major talent in Wisconsin than in recent years.  There's at least 4 maybe 5 guys(if you believe Scout) in Wisconsin that MU is recruiting for 2009.  Jamil Wilson from Racine is one of the best players in the class, for sure top 15.  Johnnie Lacy from Milwaukee is anywhere between 20-50 in the country, MU is heavily involved with him.  And there's also Jeronne Maymon from Madison and Luke Russell from Menomonee Falls.  2010 has Evan Anderson one of the top guys in the country as well as TJ Kadima and Flavien Davis.

And it's not as if MU is totally ignoring IL, but now that Bruce Weber is apparently no longer a moron it's a lot tougher.  MU is still in on Diamond Taylor, they've shown interest in the two 7-Footers at Lake Forest, with no Shumpert they may change their opinion on a guy like Chris Colvin.  For 2010, it is still way to early to tell.

Living here in Chicago, it's been very interesting over the last few years to watch recruiting happen. Weber is getting grilled all the time about letting the best players in the state leave.

It's been an interesting phenomenon though recently, as players just aren't ignoring Illinois, DePaul, but going to schools that a lot of Chicago area players just normally haven't been going. Ga. Tech and Oregon don't usually get a lot of Chicago kids, but look at this year. There's a plethora of talent here (not just Chicago, but this part of the country), and recruiting is as competitive as it's ever been here.
