Poll
Question:
Who plays the majority of minutes at point, during the conference portion of the schedule?
Option 1: Derrick Wilson
Option 2: Jamil Wilson
Option 3: Duane Wilson
Option 4: John Dawson
Who will play the majority of PG minutes, over the span of the conference season? I am hoping it turns out to be Jamil, as I see us as much tougher to defend against when he is playing the point.
Its obviously going to be Derrick unless he gets injured. And it won't be close.

Yeah. Whether or not you agree
This is fact.
Duane might live to hype but he still won't over take Derrick in minutes. If he gets 20 or more in a game...he's off the ball for a lot.
There seemed to be a lot of minutes with both Derrick and Dawson on the floor at the same time, not sure if that was just the opponent was terrible and trying to get minutes or what... Anyone else notice that?
Zero pts in 22 mins.
Derrick. 22 minutes is better than 37. 15 would be even better, but there isn't going to be another option to play 25 minutes this season and having three or four different point guards every game would be chaotic.
Jamil looked great at the point today. I see a lineup emerging with Jamil at the offensive #1, Derrick, Jake, Todd and JJJ and even John at the combined #2-3, Juan/Deonte at the offensive #4 and Oxtule. As the convert to D, Juan/Deonte cover the #3 while Jamil plays the traditional #4 and the guards go to their normal spots.
It seemed clear to me that Jamil has spent a tremendous amount of practice time working on offense from the #1. Candidly, 'point forward' might be his best route to the next level so a Win-win.

Jamil is best point guard on team today. Similar to Vander, if he returned, he has height and can bring the ball up court in quick manner. Plus he is great rebounder on can transition from D rebound upcourt on his own. PG's make or break a college basketball team. At this moment he is best option by wide margin. Will add that I think he will pass PG to DuWilson in upcoming weeks.

I think this was the first time we saw Jamil running point when we didn't go to extended minutes in the Twin Tower set. I've not really liked that this year. Ball movement Saturday was 100% better with Deonte and Juan at that forward position.

I still want to see what he does against a team that pressures him. UW didn't do that...IUPUI couldn't.

Of course better teams will affect how he does at the point. The question was who should get PG minutes and I feel Jamil by wide margin. I have seen what the other choices do against better teams and was not impressed.

Ha! Mayo has a terrible handle. He will stay at the 2 guard

I have the same feelings (and concerns) about Derrick. No team has picked us up full court a la Louisville yet. Incidentally, I voted Derrick in this pole. Also not surprised that the team had its best offensive day, coinciding with Derrick playing his second fewest minutes of the season - 22 minutes (20 in Grambling).
Think if Buzz can get it figured out to where Derrick is a 20 minute per game guy, we can be just fine...and also if Derrick isn't thrown out there with Jake, Otule and Juan.

When teams have provided pressure it is Jamil who brings the ball up.
