Could be a lot of guys.....but all around game by Davante gets the nod.....even with the technical.
Autry
Ox
Ox.
And agreed, Autry was great.
Deonte. Because of the dunk... and the putback... and the drive(s)... and the steals... and the hustle... and and and...
I'm fine with Ox with Jamil close second

Ox followed by Burton
Jamil.
Loved Jamil attacking the hoop. I'll vote Jamil.

Jamil.
yes. Today was first game where he kind of looked like he could actually play the point. Of course, have to consider the level of competition...Good overall stat line though.
Probably in the minority here, but Anderson because of those steals.

Juan.
Best player on both ends of the floor in the 1st 10 minutes while building a 20 point lead.
Jamil did a fine job at the point today.
Jamil. ASSERTIVENESS.
Juan Anderson. Not that the game was ever in doubt, but it was essentially over at 18-2. Juan had 9 points on 3-3 from 3-point range, 3 rebounds and a couple steals at that point.
I vote Jamil because he fed Gardner a bunch. If we were tallying points like they do in Hockey Jamil would likely have more
Jamil
A lot of candidates today. Going with Anderson because he really set the tone early when we put it to bed early.
Jamil set the pace early. DG had nice game, but Jamil was difference maker.
On another note, when all is said Burton might end up being third best player out of that class. Bright things ahead for the freshmen. Johnson is going to be a very big impact player.

The brightest spot today was the play of some of our Freshmen. I share your sentiments on time allocation.
Jamil
Jamil - did a little bit of everything.
Juan
There is only Juan choice for SOTG.
I also vote for Juan Anderson. The early momentum out the gates is important.
Maybe he can finally start the process of shedding the label of "a poor man's Trent Lockett."
would vote for Gardner if not for his skirmish at the end.
So, Anderson for getting after it early.
Gardner, would have had 30 if Buzz played him 5-6 more min.
Jamil for best all around game.
And no Gardner...no SOTG if you pull a punk move.
Jamil, scored and assisted a ton.... Love the aggressive play.
Also, Jake Thomas. 15 min, 6 pts, played his role perfectly. More of that please.
Juan. Love the threes and the 5 steals. The outside shots and that disruptive defense is exactly what this team hasn't had enough of. IUPUI had 11 turnovers, and 10 were steals - have to get that as opposed to relying on a team to make unforced errors.
Davante DQ'd from the competition for ....as my 7-year-old's teachers put it.....making a bad choice.
Anderson and Jamil......Juan and 1A.
Juan.
I'm going with Juan but Jamil would be another good choice. I love Juan's super quick hands and his hustle on D. Today we added outstanding offensive production. In Jamil's case, I thought he looked very effective running the point and played a great game.
Juan, with Jamil a close 2nd.
Jamil. Points, boards and assists.
Juan...5 steals is a helluva stat

+1
He's steadily bring the quick hands D. Giving us 3-5 extra possessions a game.
I loved Juan's activity level all game and, of course, his 3-for-3 from 3 that set the tone of the blowout.
Jamil a fine second choice (and I wouldn't quibble about either he or Deonte being the first choice).
Jamil, loved how he and Davante played off each other.
Jamil.
JA, but I went to snowblow at halftime.
Nod to Juan. Davante DQ'd, and Jamil played well, but I expect that performance out of him for IUPUI. *Hopefully* Juan can continue the momentum.

Seriously, he had a real good game on both ends of the floor. He was a key part in coming out strong and basically putting this game away before the 10 minute mark of the first half.

Juan plays a little less....scores a little less...rebounds a little better...more assists...less turnovers...play very good team defense. And Juan is playing the same position that Trent did last year.
We'll see how he holds up as the season rolls on, but either you are completely underrating Juan...or overrating Trent from last year.

Thanks Sultan, good stuff as usual. The thing that jumped out at me was Juan started the season something like 0-10 from the 3 line. I recall him getting the lid off with one shot, I think against Bucky. Yesterday he was absolute money. And his pesky defense at least since the west coast trip has been really good. Looking forward to another good game from him Tuesday. He's one guy who simply MUST continue to emerge.

First of all, our opinions are just that, opinions, not votes. The moderators decide the SOTG. Also, what part of 5 assists and 5 steals don't you understand. Also, do you know that other things like excellent defense matter in who gets the SOTG.

Putting away a game against a team that was so bad flood played?
Really? Ox had 20 and 11 on 10-14 and jamil shot 70% with more boards and assists

What part about a double double don't you understand?
Or 6>5 is it not?
Juan was the right choice. We now have 6 wins with 6 different SOTG.

Double digit points, 5 assists, 3/4 from 3P and most importantly 5 steals. I don't think we have had anyone get that stat this year...or maybe even last year.

(A) You never made a choice. You just cried.
(B) IMO, I don't care if Gardner went for 40 and 40, that stunt at the end DQ'd him.
(C) I don't disagree with anyone who says Jamil deserved it. I just think Juan's early contributions to get the ball rolling counted more.
(D) There is no money, no award, the mods pick it based on their own observations and input from us. You never made a choice. Make a choice next time. Early.

I think my choice was heavily implied.
Really? A minor shoving match DQ'd him? Personally I love the fire he showed. Obviously don't want it happening frequently at risk of suspension. But being a little upset that someone just stepped on your head...is understandable.
Davante punked the guy. He didn't like the physical play, missed the shot and pushed the IUPUI player while ostensibly going for the rebound. Plus, he scored all of his points after Juan had gotten the team rolling. And you didn't state a preference until after it was decided.

It wasn't an argument. The claim was that Juan put the game away. There wasn't anything to put away. The game was never in doubt. In large part because Davante and basically the entire team could score whenever they wanted to.
Difference is, Davante can put up big numbers against good teams as well.
More points, rebounds, better FG%.
All Juan had was more steals and 2 more assists. Davante's advantages in points and rebounds(9 more pts and 7 more rebounds) were almost a double double themselves.

So by your logic, assuming the team gets out to an early lead(very rare sadly) the stud of the game should automatically be the starter who scored the early points?
even if another guy put up 20 and 11?
I know 20 and 11 especially against a really bad team can be expected of Davante and Juan will probably never do this in his college career....but the standard should be the same.

My argument is that (A) Davante deserves no consideration because of the altercation. (B) He scored most of his points after MU was up huge, (C) Juan's play got the ball rolling (D) don't wait to make a whining post until after the decision has been made. I can try to find smaller words if you like.

I didn't ask for your argument. I asked for the meaning behind your flawed logic.
I don't know if I can use any smaller or simpler words when stating...
A 20-10 highly efficient double/double was the best performance by anyone who stepped onto the Bradley Center court on December 14th, 2013.

And other people, seemingly the majority of other people, disagree. So maybe it's your logic that is flawed.
Juan put up a complete, end-to-end performance and didn't carry himself like an immature child when the scoreboard dictated there was no need to do so. Davante had a great game. He would have been a decent choice. Others, including those who make the decision, feel Juan was a better choice. Why are you crying so much about it?

And others are arguing that an 11 point, 4 rebound, 5 assist, 5 steal, 3-4 3P with better than Davante defense performance is better than a 20-10 highly efficient double/double.
Opinions are fun! :)
Brewcity, that line of juan being 1 rebound from a quadruple -nickel was funny. Yeah I have no problem with Juan winning the honor, 5 steals is very impressive. He makes this a much better team no doubt when he is on the floor..
