Joseph Fulce, a 2006 Plano Senior graduate and starter on the Class 5A State Championship Wildcats squad, has verbally committed to play basketball at Marquette.

Anyone ever heard of this guy?
That's a little weird.
If he graduated in 2006, where the hell is he?
My guess is he's a JuCo transfer, and probably on board for '08.
I can't find him anywhere in the ESPN College BB recruiting database. At the very least, I hope this kid is 6' 10" and 260+ lbs. If we're going to recruit a "project," it better be a project that can regularly clog the lane and occasionally block the rim.
6-7 180lbs.. some word that he had committed to texas a&m but that musta fell through or this report is incorrect.. at Massanutten Military Academy (prep school) in Virginia this past season

he had previously committed to Texas A&M, and then New Orleans. Insult to injury. What a joke.
I'll be shocked if Swopshire doesn't go to Louisville--can't help that we just lost out on Iman. Maybe Swopshire will want to come play with Fulce?? That'll happen.
I'm just waiting to see if the sun comes up tomorrow.. my guess is that it will and everything will be hunky dory ;)
Well, using Shumpert's logic, maybe Swopshire WON'T sign with Louisville for a similar reason......Swopshire will need to grab a number and stand in line for playing time at Louisville. (I hate Pitino, but the guy has loaded that team big-time.)
And if Swopshire's even remotely serious about looking at the 2 schools' academic reputations (yes, a big "if"), Louisville isn't exactly an extension of Harvard.
Let's have some faith in the MU coaching staff. Did anyone really know much about Cubby and Lazar initially? It became very apparent that both are first rate players. Hence, I have that faith in Fulce.
Yeah... this makes me feel better!!
If we're taking this guy, I think the coaching staff already knows that Swopshire is NOT coming to MU.
Seriously is this some sort of joke. Why is MU even accepting JUCOs anyway. Lets keep the expectations low guys given our history of awesome JUCO players. Recuruit a four year player or don't recruit one at all.
Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but it sounds like he would be a 4-year guy. Was he getting recruited out of high school, but then decided to spend a year at a prep school first?
EDIT: Nevermind. I missed a year in there somewhere. Math's not my thing.

Do you have any idea who recruited him to Texas A&M?
A: Buzz Willaims. Texas A&M Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordnator
Do you have any idea who signed him at New Orleans?
A: Head Coach Buzz Williams.
Think real hard: Where is Buzz Williams these days?
Can't seem to find out if he's a juco or not. I mean, he was going to Texas A&M, but decommitted. So he had D1 talent, 3 stars. But he's a 2006 grad .. now it's 2007 .. what's he gonna do, work at Real Chili until 2008?
Paging Buzz Williams .. Buzz, you're needed in the explainatorium.
Confucious say:
There are worse fates in life than working at Real Chili for a year.

On Rivals when you bring up his name it says he's at Tyler JC in Texas....but he doesn't show up on their roster.
Nevermind, I was looking at the wrong page. He's at Tyler JC:

O.K. So that's him and Nick Williams for '08/'09, right? How many other scholarships will we have that year again? Sorry.
If only Fulce had 60 more pounds on his frame.....but 6' 7" and 180 lbs.? This kid makes Blackledge look fat.
Buzz certainly isn't wasting any time bringing the Texas lads up here. And if he can help get O'Tule, that would be a nice save considering today's events.

3 for sure...Fitz, Barro, and Blackledge. If James goes it's four.
So as it stands, we got Williams, this new kid from down south and that's it, right?
We have at least one more scholarship left, and who knows, maybe Christopherson gets a redshirt.
seems that illinois offered him last year.

this guy might be an 09 recruit. for all i can tell, he committed in 06 to texas A&M. he then decommitted, and went to prep school for a year, effectively re-classifying himself as an 07 recruit. he's in JUCO this year, and i was under the impression that you had to stay at JUCO for two years before you could enroll in a DI school. maybe i'm missing something, but has anyone actually read that he will be here in 08?

This frontcourt would be a tailor's nightmare
Plano coach Tom Inman said senior swingman Joseph Fulce is built to make plays others just can't. The versatile Fulce, a Texas A&M recruit, is 6-8. His sleeve length is 42 inches, and his legs are so long they stretch almost all the way up to his ribs.
Fulce, who averaged 16.8 points and 7.7 rebounds last season, is the cousin of 1991 Plano East graduate Jimmy King, a member of Michigan's Fab Five. King paid Fulce a huge compliment last season when he said Fulce is more skilled all-around than he was at the same age.
"I was kind of shocked," Fulce said. "It's more motivation. ... I just want to be myself and make my own game.
"I can only get better at this point."
Fulce, who dealt with tendinitis in his left knee this summer, plays on the wing because there's plenty of size at Plano.
And June 2006:
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/colleges/topstories/stories/060806dnspotamusignee.181db16c.html
Plano forward Joseph Fulce, a Texas A&M signee, will attend a prep school in Virginia this fall rather than begin his college career with the Aggies.
Fulce, who will attend Massanutten Military Academy in Woodstock, Va., said the decision came down to academic and athletic reasons. He still must get a high score on the SAT to qualify at A&M, and instead of taking the college entrance exam again this month, he will take it at prep school, he said.
"It [Massanutten] will help me prepare a little more for college and help me grow up better as a person before I get down there [Texas A&M]," Fulce said.
Fulce, who is 6-8, 200 pounds, said he also will try to bulk up five or 10 more pounds to get ready to play small forward in the Big 12 conference. Fulce recovered from midseason surgery to help lead Plano to the Class 5A state championship.
Fulce said he is still committed to playing in 2007-08 for A&M even though NCAA guidelines allow him to accept a scholarship from another school.
You can transfer after one year at a JUCO, if you would have been eligible to play at a Division 1 school coming out of high school. He was not eleigible at Texas A&M, so he went to a prep school. Presumably he would have been eligible this year at New Orleans, so he will be eligible after one year of JC. Jerome Whitehead and Lloyd Walton were one year JUCO players.

Right - now that we have more details I've updated the table to include Fulce. He joins the 08 class, and has 3 years of eligibility left. (thus taking one from 08, but giving 2011 an extra) So here's the scholies we have left:
08-09: 1 (Fulce, N Williams committed)
09-10: 3 (E Williams committed)
10-11: 3
11-12: 4
