Coach K got a lesson in coaching 101 tonight (yeah..greatest of all-time blah blah blah). Why did they continue to go down low the entire second half??? Crean made some great defense adjustments (namely bring in Fitz to help secure loose balls underneath).
What a game...pressing, running, trapping, zone, man...K had no answer. Period. Even with the grossly different FT attempts--Mu comes out on top.
What a great victory for MU!!!
Good point on the FTs. It's a damn hard disparity to overcome, but the team just out worked them in every aspect.
I'll definitely second the props. Wins vs. Bobby Knight and Coach Amex in two nights. Not bad, not bad at all.
I'm sure Bo will find a way to slam Crean for last 2 wins.
This team is definitely a Tom Crean team. I bet he would say this is his best bunch yet.
better than the final four!? reel it in a bit buddy... ;)

We have a very real shot at being a higher seed than the final four team.
If I was Coach K, I'd have gone back to McRoberts again and again, too. What else was he going to do? Our guards were too quick for their guards. McRoberts going one-on-one against Barro was their best bet. Fortunately for us, McRoberts had an awful game, but he was getting pretty goods shots. Plus, even his misses led to putbacks for Duke as Barro was not in rebounding position as we was forced to defend McRoberts.
I just can't let this one go...
All I can think about is Crean's timely discussions last night. Coach K was up against the ropes and Crean just kept hammering on him.
Anyone catch the quick interview at half when Crean was running into the locker room?? It was like he was speaking a different language.
Also, did anyone catch the 'freeze frame' on Barro with the commentary that Coach K 'knew' Barro had weak court vision and they would try to exploit him?
They have nice program...but when they win it is the coaching and when the lose it is because they are a young team.
Couldn't sleep a wink last night...
Just about 24 hours later and i'm still buzzing from the game. I just got done watching the last 15 minutes of the game and we really outplayed Duke. This was a great win for our program and I can't wait to bring it up over and over again tomorrow during Thanksgiving!!
This really is a truly great win over a great program!! Who's calling us mid-major now!! ;)
FIRE UP MARQUETTE!!
thank you state for exposing duke for what they are, and thank you last warrior for still being excited about the win more than a day after the fact, just like me!!!
not to mention unc goes down tonight, sucks for the ACC, whaddya say now dukie v!?
seriously though duke is an incredible program, i do think this is a definite down year for them, but a win against duke is a win against duke.
who can spell
T-O-P-1-0-!!!!!!!!

Maybe a bit of a stretch, but I think this team could hang with Kansas defensively.
i most certainly wasn;t trying to knock the current team, just trying maybe to temper expectations a tad. still a very long season and a long way to go.
as far as this team competing better with that kansas team, i would have to agree taht this team would match up better athletically. kansas would not have been able to start their primary or secondary breaks so easily against the current bunch.
but i'll still defend that team to the death. the starting five was one of the most well rounded bunch ever. a pass first point guard (at the time) who could shoot in diener, a finesse big guy in merritt, a muscle guy with post moves in jackson, the athletic jack of all trades in townsend, and of course, mr. wade. the bench on the current team is definitely deeper, and more athletic from top to bottom.
really though, there is no reason to compare the 2 teams. that will always be wade's team. and this year....well we'll just have to wait and see, won't we. but i'm guessing it's gonna be good.

No judgement but this made me laugh. Hard.
Old scoop posts are fertile soil for comedy.
Full disclosure I am positive I felt the same way at the time.
