Buzz will be on the air this morning.
Clearly came on ONLY because WSsp is broadcasting on location for a toy/money drive for children's hospital. Buzz said he'll do anything for children's hospital. Basically letting ssp know this is the only reason I came on your show. Wickett said lets try on get you on again and Buzz said "good luck with your toy drive." So good.
Don't know the backstory, whats the deal with WSSP? Why would Buzz be against coming on the air, if not for Children's Hospital?

WSSP and Wickett in particular are very bias against MU. Paint things in a negative light and make a big deal out of negative things, yet never report the positive things. It's almost laughable.
I just saw that their market share is .6, so not a whole lot of people listening to that garbage.
The morning show is so bad, I can't for the life of me understand how those two morons are still on the air. So unknowledgeable and constantly rip at each other, really hard to listen to. Wickett is an obnoxious, arrogant weasel. (The worst kind of weasel)

I love this.
Chuck is a huge UW homer, that was adamant Buzz would be gone after last season. Wickett isn't a MU hater, just a troll. Those clowns, and the crew in the afternoon take any chance they can to get a shot in at MU. That's not even including the way Michaels handled the 720 incident. MU was furious about that.

I don't know if it's as much bias as it is ignorance. The guys are just not well versed on MU hoops, so they grasp at cliches like "plays hard" or "athletic" instead of actually talking about something meaningful.
They do talk about MU's off the court stuff, but I think that is just a ratings tactic, not necessary a bias.
"Hey, MU is in the news again. We know we can get some calls and kill an hour on that topic. 'Let's go to the phones, what do you think about MU's latest scandal?'."
What they SHOULD do is find somebody in the local market that can talk intelligently about MU hoops, and then defer to that expert.

The main host is tolerable, the sidekick is the worst sports talk show host I've ever listened to. I'm a big packer/brewer fan as well, I can't listen to them.

Hit the nail on the head!
Sports talk radio hosts are "in character" while on the air. If 1250 had two level-headed, knowledgeable journalists on the air breaking down games in an unbiased manner, no one would listen and, frankly, we wouldn't be talking about them on this thread. If a radio show brings in loud mouths who understand their target market and make outlandish statements designed to get a rise out of people, it moves the needle (though it still appears 1250's market share is pretty low).

Agreed, but they never do that with UW. You'd think that would move the needle more than the potshots they take at Marquette.

That is definitely part of their plan with all their shows, but I believe there is more to it than that as far as Marquette goes. Maybe not, just my feeling. I don't sense the vitriol when they talk about the Packers, Bucks, UW etc.
What was the michels 720 (620?) incident. I began to think he had too much time on his hands after he sent me a friend request, I've never met the guy.

The key phrase in my post was "who understand their target market." The Packers and Badgers have passionate fan bases who tend to be huge homers and relatively sensitive. There aren't enough fans of those teams who will take the same "anti-team" stance as the hosts. You need those fans/callers/listeners to create at least a mild sense of balance.
Teams that can be ripped: Chicago teams, any big market/big name teams and, of course, the local snotty private school.

After a few of the guys got cited for being at Apartment 720 a couple years ago, Michaels went on the air with rumors he heard about DJO's involvement, and that he was facing charges. Both of which never proved to be true.

Bingo.
They aren't going to alienate "Gary from greenfield" by talking bad about the Packers or Badgers. But, they can take some small shots at MU because it it fills the phones and doesn't alienate anybody but people like us... who probably aren't listening anyways.
Guys, relax on the martyrdom. The typical local sports radio guy will rarely have the depth of knowledge on MU matters that a twice-daily visitor to scoop will have, so you'll always be disappointed. I recommend changing your expectations. I don't expect Wickett and crew to know our Kenpom ranking, Synergy breakdowns, or recruiting targets through 2019. How could they? They have a lot of bases to cover. If you want more insightful analysis, look for it elsewhere. Tune in if you want to kill some time on the way to work after a tight ending to a Packers or Brewers game.

Since their
JOB is talking about sports on the air, I find it interesting that you don't think they need to be informed about what they talk about. As someone who managed a phone system, would it have been alright if I didn't know what I was doing since there are other people in the world who have the knowledge?
I find their (Wickett & Chuck) lack of knowledge across a broad spectrum of sports appalling. (Well, actually I don't because I refuse to listen to them anymore.)

You're 100% right... but I wish they would find an "expert" on the topic and use that guy/gal to add some depth.
I don't expect those guys to know EVERYTHING about EVERY sport in Wisconsin... but they have access to people who are experts in certain areas, and they should lean on those people.
Now, if MU doesn't move the needle, then don't get an expert, and don't waste your time... but talking about MU in a bunch of cliches and innuendos is silly, and franky, lazy.
That's why I have SiriusXM radio.
Here is the podcast.

It was said a bit different in how you have, but I think you are on with your point.
