1. Davante being ill hurt.
2. Jamil......well, if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything. Very disappointing
3. Poorly officiated game. Those back-to-back calls late in the game were daggers.
4. Deonte wants to be the man. As a freshman. Well done, young man.
5. Derrick was very good in the first half, not so much after his fall.
6. Chris, you are 6'11 and 275. Act like it.
7. Bad FT shooting is as contagious as the stomach flu.
8. Jake, Todd, look for your shots.
9. Normally a good rebounding team. It was a weakness last night. Surprising.
10. (in best Ben Stein voice)...."leader? Leader?"........anyone?
I will say one more thing about this game.
The Davante / Otule on the floor at the same time stuff is really not working. The offense gets so clogged up with both of them out there. You have the best interior scorer this team has running around like a guard on the perimeter, instead of trying to post the guy up. And they are SOOO slow defensively when both of them are out there.
I don't think Buzz wanted to do it, but Jamil picked up some dumb fouls early so he felt he had no chance.
Was it me or did the team start going for an insane amount of blocks?
They won because they have a person in a mascot of an indigenous person (I hope the NCAA checked his papers to see if he was of Aztecan ancestry)

It's okay because Aztecs (or their descendants) don't live in the US. That's consistency for the NCAA.

I'll add one, Marquette continues to be a very good defensive team. Get the offense moving and we'll be hard to beat. Getting the offense moving, however, ain't gonna come easy.

Agree with most of this, especially the Leader issue.
There's a connection between SDSU and Marquette - both have great student sections, both use the "I believe chant", and both use Big Heads!
"I saw that photo and we talked about what the San Diego State students were doing and we decided to try it," says Craig Pintens, who in 2005 was the assistant athletic director for marketing at Marquette.

So all North Dakota has to do is bring Cortez back to annihilate the Sioux, and all will be good.

Defensive rebounding was an issue as SDSU had 5 tip-ins/putbacks. That's a lot on top of the missed FTs and not clamping down on Thames.
Seeing this guy last night would have given DiUlio a heart attack

Of the off rebs we gave up at least 75% were when we went zone or too many bodies went to Thames.

So all North Dakota has to do is bring Cortez back to annihilate the Sioux, and all will be good.
Cortez would have gotten his a$$ kicked by the Lakota Sioux. We studied the Lakota in Air War College and they were one of the finest light cavalry armies in history. Their mobility combined with more accurate and longer ranged weaponry would have decimated the Spanish forces of that time. Only the superior firepower and sheer numbers of the late 19th Century US Army ended Sioux and Cheyenne dominance of the Great Plains. But in virtually every small unit engagement between the US Army and the Lakota the Sioux always kicked the sh1t out of the white guys into the 20th Century.
There is a reason the Spanish stayed out of Arizona, too. The Apaches kicked the sh1t out of them repeatedly and the Viceroy concluded that it wasn't worth trying to defeat them because Conquistador tactics and weapons were ineffective against the Apaches.
American Indian fighting forces were some of the best warriors. That is a point of pride with many tribes and certainly worth celebrating.
OK, funny SDSU story today. I go to lunch and there's this guy I see that works in our building but I don't know him. He's wearing a SDSU basketball jacket, but a very nice one that screams he was in the athletic department (this wasn't something you bought at the book store). I walk up to him, ask if he went to the game last night. He did not, but I congratulate him and tell him I went to MU. He begins to talk about how he was a manager for Steve Fisher (actually got into a game) and one of the members of the team was a former MU guy. LOL. I tell him....Ryan Amoroso? Ding ding ding.
It was a fun conversation from there about TC, poker, hoops, etc. Small world.

When #10 is found (Burton?), #'s 2, 6, 8 & 9 will also stop being an issue for this team.

Huh?
You're saying that 5th year senior Jamil needs Burton to emerge so he stops being bad 4/5 games? 6th year senior Otule needs a freshman to stop being a kitten? Jake and Todd two upperclassman need a rookie to lead and they will start taking good shots?
Help me understand....
