Where do you think Iman will go... MU, GT, or UNC?
I'm going on record as saying MU!
MU. best combination of playing time and chance to be succesful in the NCAA's. not to mention proximity to home. he'll at least have to split time at UNC, and it doesn't look like GT has the talent to really compete nationally right now...
MU! I'm an eternal optimist.
GT. Just a hunch.
GT
MU. Wade keeps paying dividends...
I got a bad feeling we're gonna get Frasored.... UNC.
I call GT.
All the talk of "MU vs. UNC" reminds me a lot of "Warriors vs. Eagles" and how no one thought there would be a third option on the table since it was getting so little play.
(ducks)
Marquette. Location, location, location.
GT
It's gotta be MU ftw!
Ring Out Ahoya! My money's on us.
Georgia Tech
;D
.............Iman Shumpert to Marquette University.............Iman Shumpert to Marquette University.........
;D
MARQUETTE 8)
GT
Illinois
GT...He wants the ACC.
UNC - Bobby Frasor all over again. In fact, if he is asked, I would not be surprised if we finished third. I just do not have a good feeling about this one. I will happily eat crow if I turn out to be wrong.
My gut says UNC...too tough to pass up for a player of his calibur. However, the fact that we're having this conversation and the fact that we have unc shakin' in their heels shows how far we've come and where we're going.
GT: ACC, Atlanta, playing time, great school, location. I don't think sticking close to mom and dad is a factor. It wasn't for me, and I wasn't nearly as savvy as he is. He'd be a legend at Marquette though, I'm sure of that.
With great anger, frustration, and hesitation.....GTech.
MU - He's gonna be a Warrior!
- I'm an optimist. It's more fun..... ;D
sorry but i have a bad feeling...GT
I'll say MU because I think the draw to the midwest really might come into play for him and his family.
A lot of MU parents are in the stands every weekend because they make the drive up to Milwaukee. I think that's a major draw for a lot of families.
My gut tells me it's close:
They are all good schools academically
They are all good programs
They all will help develop him for the NBA (should he be good enough)
They will all help him graduate (if he puts the work in)
The difference makers here might be:
The coach's personality and approach (does it blend with Iman's and his parents)
The players (do they seem to have something in common with him, did he hit it off with them)
Location (can his family come see him play)
Iman will be a WARRIOR!!!!
Role player at UNC, or follow Wade and be the man at MU? It's gotta be MU!
Not sure how GT fits into all this because they have been pretty much ignored (of the 3 finalists) until now. It's going to be a big letdown if we don't get him. Regardless of how he ultimately pans out, the perception of being big-time with a recruit rated that highly would definitely have a positive impact on recruiting. Add that to what should be a top 15 team all year and it could be a big boost for the program that pays dividends for years to come.

Atlanta would be a reason NOT to go to GT. IMO, Atlanta has to be the WORST city in the country and my wife is from there!
I still think he's coming to MU, but for a kid from Chicago the pull of DWade toward Marquette can not be compared to the pull of MJ to North Carolina. His enormous presence makes North Carolina the peak of Mount Everest for recruits.
Marquette, for sure.
PRN, I don't disagree with the MJ pull....BUT a lot of these kids we're now recruiting were pretty young when MJ was in his prime. Everyone knows what Michael did on the basketball court, but 17 year olds were 7 the last time Michael was truly Michael (1997 - the last Bulls championship). It's a lot like what a Michigan State/UNC recruiting battle would have looked like in the mid 90's. MSU has Magic but he was at the end of his career, while MJ was at the peak. Please don't interpret this as any disrespect to MJ...he's the best player to ever play the game.
I know exactly what you mean, but Magic Johnson never embraced Michigan State the way Jordan has North Carolina. With DVDs, ESPN Classic, etc., it's a different time. I still think Jordan is the most popular basketball play around.
Wade is Iman's favorite player, so I have to think he may have a little more influence than MJ given Iman's age. Having Wade at MM had to be a clear message to Shumpert he'll get to know Wade down the road if he comes to MU. It also was a good reminder that MU can be a good vehicle to the upper echelon of the NBA. I don't think we would've had that credibility without DWade.
Is it 5:30 yet????
I'll be away with family all night, visiting from out of town. Can somebody text me when word comes down?
