Buzz no longered on short list. But Half of MUScoop is now a candidate as they clearly know how to coach much better than Williams. #WestBendTheSilveining
This made my morning...nice one, KW ;D
only half of Scoop??
The good news is that Texas is off to a 3-0 start with single digit wins over Mercer and Texas-San Antonio. They did get a nice 10 point blowout of Stephen F. Austin the other day. Houston Baptist up next for the Longhorns.
willie on the top of the list? Well played, KW.
Patterson doesn't have the gonads to hire willie

That would be hilarious to watch people suddenly become IU fans. :D

I'd be one of them...don't hate the school at all...and love Buzz enough I'd always want to see him be successful....as I assume he would leave Marquette the right way and with class and decency, should he ever chose to move on to a higher profile program.
Pretty sure we won't ever have to worry about this scenario, as UT will be able to land a better candidate than TC...whether that is Buzz, Self, Donovan, Sean Miller, Pastner

Does anyone here really care either way about IU? I'm fairly certain all the IU stuff is Crean stuff. If Crean wasn't there, I'm sure no one would care...
Personally, I like the school and team.

Must be from a Texas fan site. Anyone not delusional about Texas B-ball could see through that rumor.

Why would it be hilarious? People here like and respect Buzz. Why wouldn't you root for someone you like and respect? I've cheered for Indiana before. Under the right circumstances I'd have no problem doing it again.

If UT fires their coach, they are looking for someone that has experience in turning programs around....not all the people you list there have done that. The one you have dismissed outright has done it twice.

Because it would be funny to watch IU threads populate here in a different tone, like all the ones over the years about SLU, USC, Arizona....wait...that didn't happen. Never mind.

New rumor is TC to Texas Buzz to IU
I don't believe this one for a second, mainly because I don't think Texas has the juice to pry Crean away from Indiana. At IU, Crean can be king. He has proven he can recruit anyone there, and while the jury's out on if he'll bring the title back to Bloomington, I think he could last a long, long time there getting to the Sweet 16 on a regular basis and making a deeper run every 5 years or so.
Crean rebuilt Deane's mess here, and the reason he left was because of the way one recruitment played out that led him to thinking that while he could recruit at a high level, the powers that be were going to prevent him from recruiting at an elite level. Now he's rebuilt Sampson's mess and is recruiting at an elite level. Why would he want to leave that position where he is basically king to go try to rebuild Barnes' mess while at the same time knowing he will never be the BMOC that the football coach is? Crean is simply too big a name for Texas basketball to lure.

I take anyone Texas might be interested in seriously, because they feel they can hire anyone. See also: Nick Saban possibly leaving Alabama for Texas.

First, decades passed between Rick leaving Marquette and coaching at SLU. Ditto for KO and Arizona or USC. Second, most of the people here who knew Rick and Kevin liked them. That's not true about TC. I know you think that's not "fair", that you think, for example, that KO did more to be despised than TC. But among the people who knew both it's clear you've lost that argument. Despite his glaring faults, they find KO real and can't say the same about TC. That's not gonna change no matter how long you shake your fists, stamp you feet and hold your breath.

Oh, believe me, I get why, that is obvious. Like minded people hang around with like people, that doesn't surprise me one bit in terms of their opinions about someone else. Yup, those guys left "decades ago" but they still coached. In fact, KO coached at USC in 2013...as in this calendar year. TC left 6 years ago. It seems to me the perfect storm should have been that MU goes to the Final Four and TC leaves, making us a step stone program again. That ultimately is what he should have done....preferably in July like Rick did.
What is ironic as hell is that in the other thread you said you couldn't like a person that was a complete prick to some in his profession, but ok outside of it. Yet here you are saying that's EXACTLY what you did with K.O., one of the biggest pricks out there. Oh is that some delicious irony.
KO was "real" alright, a regular awesome dude that would have put MU as a Catholic institution back a decade if some of his exploits ever hit the airwaves.
Keepin it real. Thank God cell phone cameras weren't around.

Sometime the job description requires being tough. Never said I wasn't okay with that. Not a fan, though, of the guy who beats up on the secretaries. Only know that about TC. If KO did it, he's a prick too.

I can vouch for this attitude. Longhorn truly believe they are the most elite program in football and basketball. They recognize that they don't have the success to back that claim in basketball but truly believe that if they wanted to care about basketball, then they are more desirable than any other program
