Title: Tennessee vs Xavier
Post by: Coleman on November 13, 2013, 08:55:59 AM
How big of a win was this for Xavier? I have no idea how good Tenn is supposed to be...

Could X end up being a tourney caliber team?

Pretty big win actually.  Tenn was picked to finish 3rd in the SEC this year and got a first place vote.

I think Xavier is a tournament team that has a respectable chance to win our conference.

Also have a top 5 recruiting class for 2014 at the moment.  That will no doubt change as the year goes on and more guys sign, but still good to see.

Good deal. I think everyone knows we have 3 solid teams this year in MU, Creighton and Georgetown.

Where I think our conference will be judged is on the quality of the next three teams...teams like Xavier, St. John's and Providence.

For respectability our first year we NEED 4 bids. 5 would be ideal.

Plenty of thought before season started that Xavier could make the NCAA Tournament. They have the best PG in the league and perhaps most dynamic perimeter player. The win last night didn't surprise me.

Don't forget Nova.  They will be competing for a NCAA bid as well.

Horrific day yesterday for SEC hoops.

LSU lost to UMass.
South Carolina lost to Baylor.
Tennessee lost to Xavier.
Florida lost to Wisconsin.
Kentucky lost to Michigan State.
Vanderbilt barely beat Georgia State.
Missouri's win over Southern Illinois was not exactly decisive.

SEC teams have yet to beat another power conference team, as Alabama lost to Oklahoma over the weekend.

When they were advertising the start of that game on FS1 at the end of the MU game I was imagining how pissed "non-home market" fans of those teams were when Buzz was calling two timeouts in the last couple minutes of a game they were leading by 40.

I think I heard them say something about being able to see it on FS2, but I know I would be pissed if the situation was reversed and my DVR was set to start recording FS1.

Impossible to say at this point.

What is a bit surprising about the X win last night is that they did it with 3 contributors out due to injury. They should be decent, and they are always tough at the Cintas Center.

Really glad about this. The fact that we were ranked 7th in the conference power rankings really irked me. Time to leapfrog the SEC and maybe even the Pac-12 and AAC.

How did Jeronne do?

He had ten rebounds and five turnovers. He shot 3-8... wait, did you want a real answer?

Sounds like his handle needs work, but 10 boards from a shooting guard is awesome.

AAC is actually legit this year, at least at the top. After Louisville goes away, not so much...

I'm with you on the Pac-12. We are deeper than the SEC but they also have Kentucky

Big win for the BEast. Tennessee was ranked in a lot of preseason polls and is probably the third best teams in the SEC
