Title: Grambling game thread
Post by: real chili 83 on November 12, 2013, 05:39:28 PM
Tonight's menu....cupcakes.

Here's to Jake Thomas scoring 37 points.  ;)

Brian Anderson with the call?  Fox gives us better for a pitiful OOC game than ESPN did for marquee conference games.

This game isn't even fair.

I knew they didn't win a game last year. Wasn't aware it was a team of midgets though.

Nice start for Otule and a nice midrange shot from Taylor.

Sportscasters said we have two terrific bigs. Some here will disagree.

Was about to ask if they abolished the 10 minute replay review to assess a flagrant for inadvertent contact to the face, then they did that review.  Seemed to be unrelated to the scratch though.

Sadly it still looks to be above Derrick Wilson's level of competition.  Turnover, brick, foul, getting blown by, picking up his dribble if someone comes within 8 feet of him.

That's the issue. Derrick and Jake might be worst back court in country.

Start Todd or OSU kills us. Hope Duane heals.

Eight minutes in and not one outside shot made.  D.Wilson missed two wide open and Thomas one.

All points inside the paint against a terrible, small Grambling team.

Deonte having the biggest impact out of the frosh so far on the young season, with Dawson in 2nd. Would've guessed before Duane got hurt that it would be him and Jajuan that would have an impact right away, not the other way around.

We still suck at free throws.

Are we really going to give senior to Derrick for two years?

I'd rather not wait til 2015 to see Dawson develop.

De Wilson and Thomas off to normal shooting starts.  We must have the worst shooting front court in the history of MU basketball

MU is 5 for 13 from fts, 0 for 7 from three.

Thirteen minutes in and yes, MU has not hit one outside shot.  Not one.  Unreal.

BTW, Burton is not shy......

Burton's got a Crowder-esque nose for the ball.  That's not something you can teach.

Hope to see Dawson get extended minutes.  Can see he has more talent than Wilson, just needs to get comfortable.

Agree....and don't want to get carried away on Burton....but Brevin Knight threw out the Charles Barkley mention....and I'd say that's actually a good comparison.  Few guys as big, thick, nimble and quick off the floor as was Charles...

Wow. Take a chill pill chief. His name gets misspelled on here every day.  As far as what my dumbass can contribute, a post on a player's performance in an 'In-game thread' on a message board is pretty par for the course if you ask me. Much better than some ridiculous claim that we have two guards who make up "the worst backcourt in the country."

Now that Dawson's got his first hoop, just got to get JaJuan to break the ice.  Being the target of one of the many pretty passes from Dawson should do the trick.
Title: Re: Grambling game thread

Grambling might be the worst team in DIV I

MU did not make one outside shot.  They hit three from the free throw line area, thats it  0 for 9 from three.

10 for 22 from fts (45%)

MU had 33 rebounds in first half.  Unreal.

Burton>Anderson.  You can just see the athlete in his game.

Dawson played well.

Thomas and D.Wilson had zero points and missed all their shots.  UGH.......

OSU will be very interesting, Buzz seems to be going inside full time in first half.  Better work on perimeter game in second or OSU will get ugly.

This new foul rule is killing the college game, I believe close to 40 fouls total on both teams in first half.

Post by: madtownwarrior on November 12, 2013, 07:10:38 PM
Craptacular free throws, 3 pt shooting and unwatchable basketball with 35 fouls called.

Dawson outplaying Wilson at PG is the highlight

Maybe since Wilson not a senior Buzz won't be stubbornly loyal to him.

Why take outside shots when you can get a basket in the paint virtually every possession??  We'll be fine with Mayo, Jamil and likely JJJ shooting 3's this year.

As for 40 fouls...I agree...it is a little obnoxious..

You're the one that felt like correcting an "e" to an "a" using "goddam" after. It's you with the clear personality disorder. What does spelling contribute to basketball?

We do have two of the worst starting guards in basketball. To deny it is ignorant.

Post by: nyg on November 12, 2013, 07:18:15 PM
Why, because they will need to in upcoming games against actual opponents.  Yes, they have tried tonight and missed all 9 three pointers.  This game is like a scrimmage to Buzz and the first half was going inside.  Second half I hope they work on perimeter game.

And yes, first shot from 3 goes in from Thomas.  And another......  Lets work on that perimeter game in this scrimmage.

Pretty crummy first half. Grambling is terrible. Otule and Gardner should combine for 50 inside.

Burton will be a stud, soon.

terrible FT shooting again.

Jake Thomas and Anderson add nothing. De. Wilson just a smidgeon above that.

Did I say that Grambling really honks?

Burton continues like this and Anderson will be on the pine.  Just has a skill set and athleticism.

Time to sit the regulars and play everyone else, but keep playing Thomas to get this shooting groove confidence going.  Wow, Grambling is just a terrible team and feel bad for them and their winless coach.

I just started watching and checking the box score.  I wish the box score had minutes.  Can anyone tell me how much time different people played roughly?  For example, Taylor seems to have had a monster game.  Did he do this all in 20 minutes?  We have a bunch of guys with 5-6 rebounds, and a bunch with 10-14 points.  Who did this efficiently in terms of minutes.
