I hope he was watching the game.
It was a great example of how Marquette may be known as a place for guards and wings to develop into pros, but the bigs are a critical part of the offense, and paint touches are the engine behind the offense.

I'd like to nominate you to be the official MUScooper "We want Satchel" chant organizer for the MU student section.
I was just glad Miami lost. We did not play well, but at least we did not lose. Pitt did win, but I really believe it is between Miami and MU so I am not worried about Pitt.
Not a bad opening weekend for the Big East, with a record of 8-2. Georgetown and St. John's being the teams who dropped their opening game to Oregon & Wisky.
OTOH, the ACC was 11-4 with bad losses by Miami to St. Francis (NY), and Virginia Tech to USC UPSTATE.

Not sure about that. Per his twitter, he went to the Pitt ND football game yesterday. While I love seeing ND lose, it looks like Pitt is still very much in the mix.

Then I guess Marquette is screwed since we don't have a football team for basketball recruiting purposes.
I doubt individual game results will make much difference to Pierce unless maybe he's at the game. I'd rather see the U win for RPI purposes, though a this rate I'm not sure they'll be able to beat GW.
9 out of 9 predictions on 247 sports have Pierce picking us. They guy who originally had Pierce picking Pittsburgh changed his prediction to Marquette a few days ago. I would say we have a very good chance of landing him, but I suppose anything could happen. We'll see.
My big get will be Diamond Stone. Hope we get a decent big for 2014.
I have coffee with a bunch of Badger rooters. Great guys. P-them off when I wear my MU togs.
I found a personal statement from Satchel on a recruiting site. Here it is.
"My name is Satchel Pierce i love the game of basketball I'm a very hard worker. i would like to go to a big school and I'm open to all different types of schools. financial aid/scholarships are going to be a must. i would like to play as a freshman but playing as a sophomore is just fine with me and i would like to play at a school with a high competition level because i love to play tough compititon."

The more I hear about him the more I like him. Sounds like a hard worker, too. Really has tried to improve his game and it's shown. Hopefully not the kind of kid that will quit before even giving the program a chance.
Sounds like an awesome kid. And he should be salivating when he considers the wings that are here already or committed to be here. Opens up a lot inside.

I think he is going to go to MU, if the players accept him. The visit is more getting the team's approval than Buzz convincing Pierce to go to MU. Somebody said that MU stopped recruiting the center from Texas when he refused to scrimage with the team.

Not sure that's exactly how it worked, but the visit definitely seemed to be the end of MU recruiting him. He still listed us, and honestly I still think in his mind felt we were interested, but when the visitation period opened and Buzz didn't make a trip down there, he finally saw the writing on the wall.
Wasn't the campus visit the end for Kevin Noreen, as well?
