Title: In watching the dunk contest from Madness...
Post by: Wade for President on October 16, 2007, 10:53:32 AM
...I just had to sit back and laugh.  It wasn't long ago where we didn't host a "Madness" event.....and it wasn't long ago where we didn't even have the talent & athleticism to have a dunk contest.

Maybe we had lay-up contests with Richard Shaw, Lovette, Bargen, etc..I don't remember.  We would've had to bust out a trampoline for anything even remotely close to what were able to do today.

Amazing how far this program has come in the last 4-8 years.

My freshman year they had "midnight madness" at the old gym and yeah, you're right, the dunk contest consisted of cordell henry showing everyone that the shortest guy on the team was the only guy who could dunk...

careful some how this is going to turn into a crean bashing thread... anytime anything good gets said about the program somebody has to bring us all down with negativity

If I recall, Bargen could really elevate.

Couldn't you come up with names of any other former caucasian players?

Bargen, Pieper, Lovette could all play and would be tremendous assets to any team- (Richard Shaw could contribute w/ his speed and size today).  Pick someone else...

Pieper could dunk.

Pieper could throw down. Crawford could as well. I'd love to have them on this team with their outside shooting. I'd also love to have Amal McCaskill prowling the lane.

True, He was usually good for one dunk a game, which again, back then was the highlight of the game.

Actually, I felt bad for "Smo", hearing that the second he stepped onto the court.  Completely unfair to the guy......

Lovette was unstoppable.    Of course, nothing beat the Jon Harris, Faisal Abraham free throw shooting contest.

Who would win a free throw shooting contest between Jon Harris, Faisal Abraham, and Dwight Schrute, I mean, Burke?

I saw Chris Crawford @ the CNN Center a couple of weeks ago.  He is still rehabbing his knee.  Still livin' the dream.
