Agreed on the segment. As much as I'm looking forward to the season, I'm not looking forward to the rule changes.
9 whole listeners. Great stuff.
great segment.

Watched Kentucky the other night against a school I had never heard of. Basically the only defense they played was when they blocked a shot. Otherwise it was non-existent.
Couldn't tell if it was the new rules or just freshman that don't know how to play D
Wow .. the new foul rules .. are TERRIBLE. Games are going to be foul-fests.

Sub offense and sub defense. Keep Davante in on offense and out on defense... watch as he scores 30 a game!
Gardner is not going to benefit from this. Proportionally, he is going to commit more additional fouls than additional fouls called on his defender.

Mike Broeker tweeted this after the scrimmage last week:
"My #mubb scrimmage takeaway. Concessions sales go up thanks to new rules emphasis. Games will be 3 hours #doublebonus #lotsoffouls"
The more I listen to this show regarding the rule changes, I think that everybody is going to end up playing zone.
Excited about the rule change for Doug because he's going to be at the FT line about 30 times a game this year. Not excited for the 8 pm starts where we don't get out until midnight. I also think with the rule change the midnight ball will drop at the 8 minute media TO in the second half on our NYE's game. How teams like Wichita/VCU/St Johns will adapt to this will be interesting. It defintely won't be the Big East you are used to watching. If a player penetrates the lane well he will flourish under the new rule emphasis.
People have been whining about rule changes since Dr. Naismith nailed a peach basket the the wall. But guess what, players and coaches have adapted to every rule change ever made, and these will be no different.
If you so detest a learning curve, then basketball just isn't your game.
"I think Todd will get fouled, I'm not sure that Jake will get fouled, I think that Jamil will get fouled...."
Not looking good for Jake to keep that starting role, unless teams do go to much more zone.

They've stretched college football games out to 3 1/2 hours + (making it unwatchable for me). Gonna try to do the same for basketball.

Agreed, the reference about WSU/VCU/SJU was in reference to the defensive side of the ball. It will be interesting to see how teams who rely on physical defense (can't vouch for SJU as much as WSU/VCU) will adapt.
Buzz was talking about earlier and farther weak side rotations and help when the ball goes to the wing. Also, as much as paint touches, he talked about ball reversals to make the defense react and recover. Seemed to be a Dawson fan.
80 inside minutes accounted for (goodbye Jameel), of the 120 perimeter minutes 25 are unaccounted for. "Last year at this time Trent came in and stabilized those perimeter minutes that were unaccounted for." (Hurry back, Duane).
Buzz-speak for JJJ/Todd/Juan/Jake are not lighting the world on fire.
