Ranking the non-conference opponents
(Most) Big East foes are familiar, but what about Marquette’s non-conference schedule? The Golden Eagles will play 14 games before the conference season begins, with 12 of those confirmed (two rounds of the Wooden Legacy are not). So here’s a look at Marquette’s 13 out-of-conference opponents and some analysis on which teams pose the biggest [...]<img alt="" border="0" src="http://stats.wordpress.com/b.gif?host=painttouches.com&blog=28348875&post=9089&subd=painttouches&ref=&feed=1" width="1" height="1" />

So, looking at that top 5, is 3-2 and a top 3 BEAST finish good enough to relax on selection sunday? What about 2-3?
Souther could easily be #5 or #6 on the list. Friday nite could be a tough opener.
Strange article. It looks like those who did the ranking wasn't the same person who wrote the descriptions.
I mean, #6 IUPUI lost their leading scorer off a team that finished with just six wins....and they are ranked above both Ball State and Southern? (BTW, IUPUI isn't in the Big Sky...they are in the Summit League.)
And then for #8 Southern the conclusion is "Marquette should win on talent and depth, but it won't be an easy one. Watch for the Jaguars to make life difficult for the Golden Eagles offense."

You guys usually do such a great job and I love your reporting and frequency, but this is not it:
Re UW, "and the backcourt tandem of Ben Brust (who missed last year with a torn ACL) and Traveon Jackson is one of the best in the country" is simply wrong. Gasser missed last season. Highly questionable that the guard tandem mentioned "is one of the best in the country" even best within the B1G. Also, your contention that WI will challenge MSU and OhioSt for championship, you may be the only journalists that have put that out, and you seem to forget about last years NCAA runner-up, MI, much less IN.

Was thinking the same thing
