This is a new name to me. Have I missed a mention anywhere? I recall his old man, but have not heard anything about the lad.
"But the highest-profile recruit from the state is clearly Erik Murphy, the 6-9 forward from South Kingstown who's prepping at St. Mark's in Southboro, Mass. Murphy, whose father, Jay, starred at Boston College in the early 1980s, is in the process of cutting a long list of schools down to smaller group of favorites.
"Before the start of this season, we'd like to get it to a manageable number. It may be five, it could be more," said Jay Murphy. "I just want to give Erik the tools to make a smart decision and I don't want to string any [school] along."
Two-time defending national champion Florida has emerged as a favorite to land Murphy. The Gators will certainly make Murphy's final list. Other leading contenders are BC, Ohio State, Marquette, Duke, North Carolina, Syracuse, UConn, Virginia and Notre Dame. Providence and URI are not heavily in the mix."

Harrison knows all about him.
He won't be playing in Milwaukee.

Looks like we've got a negative Nancy over here. We all know our struggles with recruiting big men, but at least put on a smile emo-kid.
Scouts has us listed as High interest for Murphy... he would be a huge addition to you team... however we are going to have to go against some of the big boys to get him...
Just read about him a couple days ago...here's a good article

Evan Daniels at Scout mentioned him a few weeks ago. From that story, "I like Coach Crean a lot," Murphy said. "I like Coach Buckley and the whole staff. I haven't been up to their campus or met any of their players, so I'm hoping to do that."
He was supposed to be here for Midnight Madness, but ended up playing in an AAU Tournament that weekend at the Community College of Rhode Island instead. While he was there he decided to go to Rhode Island's MM because he is friend's with the head coach's son, but they are not really involved in the recruiting.
we had a report on him a few weeks ago where his dad noted MU in a conversation with a reporter who refs games in the off-season

Am I still a Negative Nancy if it's true?
yes, because i may be taking a guess here but i would assume that you don't have any insider information that the rest of the world doesn't know and you are just guessing that he isn't coming to MU cuz you are choosing to be negative!

Wow, Florida, OSU, Duke, UNC, Cuse and UConn - ummmm, I would say those are some heavy hitters in the recruiting world. No matter how much he likes Crean this will be a tough get!

We could make his decision a little easier by dominating the BE this year and going deep into the tourney...plus if Shumpert and Swopshire sign, then we've got more high profile players coming in that he may be interested in playing with.

Believe what you will but simply because my OPINION is that he won't be playing in Milwaukee doesn't necessarily mean I'm being negative. As PRN, harrison, and 4never always claim, perhaps I'm the one being realistic.
Now, if I wrote that MU has no business recruiting a prospect of this caliber and has nothing to offer on the level that those other schools can offer that would be negative.
Supposedly BC is the team to beat for Murphy
