I can understand the high hopes for JJJ to contribute right away but 10 ppg is way off. Also don't forget about Juan A. I think he will have a big year.

Highest rated recruit at Marquette since Doc Rivers. Already has the Buzz stamp of approval. I think 10 ppg is not only reasonable but could be lower than the actual amount.
1) Jamil Wilson 16.0 ppg
2) Davante Gardner 14.5 ppg
3) Todd Mayo 11.5 ppg
4) Juan Anderson 9.0 ppg
5t) Jajuan Johnson/Steve Taylor 7.5 ppg
I see this year a lot like last year, where we had 5 different guys lead us in scoring (Blue, Cadougan, Jamil, Gardner, Mayo) and a few others that could make an impact on the scoresheet (Lockett, Otule, Anderson).
I think those six I listed will all be fairly regular contributors, with Jamil taking the scoring crown simply because I think he'll be a bit more consistent than Gardner and he doesn't really have someone to take minutes away when they're hot like Otule could with Ox. I could also see Jake, Derrick, and maybe even some of the other freshmen having days where they get extended runs and hit double-digits.
Big Fella 15.0
JWil 14.5
Juan 10.0
JJJ 9.0
Todd 8.5
With each of Steve, Chris and Jake and DeWil cashing in for around 5-7. I think the hardest thing for me to determine is how the minutes at the #2 get distributed and if Mayo backs up (and gets minutes) at the #1.
My gut tells me we average in the 70s as I think we remain a somewhat slow paced offense this year. Walk the ball up the court allowing our big men to position in the low post. Run only when the situation allows.

I think Mayo will be played the same way that Buycks was back in the day. He comes off the bench but gets more minutes than the starter at PG and SG because he is constantly switching between the two.
Imma stand by my prediciton.
Derrick, 10 points 8 assist.

Makes sense. I know Buycks started as a Senior alongside DJO. Was he first guard off the bench as a Junior? If so the starting duo was?

Derrick is going to be MU's all time single-season assist leader? I'll take that bet.
Jamil 14.4
Gardner 13.5 I think his playing time will be impacted by new foul rules
Otule 10.8
Juan 9.2
JJJ 7.9
I'd like to know who was the last freshman that averaged 10 ppg at MU.

James?

James?
Mostly correct. James and McNeal both averaged more than 10 ppg their freshmen years. Crowder and DJO also both averaged over 10 ppg in their first years on campus. Not the same thing but just figured I'd mention it.
I still think it's important to look at it by position.
Here's what I posted a while back:
Center: 20ppg, 15 Gardner, 5 Otoule
PF: 13 ppg, Taylor 8, McKay 5
SF: 20ppg Anderson 5, Wilson 15
SG: 10 ppg mayo 5, jjj 5
PG: 5 ppg Wilson 2, Du Wilson 3
Now things have changed:
Center: 15 Gardner, 5 Otoule
PF: Taylor 10, Wilson 5
SF: Wilson (yep, same one) 10, Anderson 7
SG: Mayo 5, JJJ 5, Jake 5 (Jake and Mayo will both get their in bursts, with some games of 15 and some games of 0)
PG: Wilson 2, Mayo 2
That's 71ppg, maybe a bit high with so many bigs, but I expect a higher than average shooting percentage from this crew.
Jamil - 13.3
Ox - 13.2
JJJ - 9.9
Todd - 8.5
Taylor - 7.4
1. Jamil 15.8
2. Davante 13.2
3. Mayo 9.5
4. JJJ 8.9
5. Taylor 7.2

I would like to take this opportunity to make fun of everyone who thought Juan Anderson would score 9+ on the season. Do me a favor and mail me some samples of whatever you are smoking.

Definitely! That's just as crazy as any idiot that thought Vander could average more than 10 ppg last year after the first two games when he had 6 against both Colgate and Southeastern Louisiana! Or all the morons that projected Steve Taylor to score 7+ ppg this year! Just like Juan, he didn't score any points last night! Unfathomable that either could have better games throughout the year, just like Vander never scored in double digits all of last year! Smoke it up!

You have no idea what you are talking about.
Vander was good as a freshman, he was better as a sophmore, and he was better as a junior. I saw that coming the whole way.

That's right, he scored 0 during the tournament and he never scored over 9. Not once. Good luck on him averaging it for a season.
dylan flood scored more in 20 seconds than our starting point guard has in 2 games.... :'(

And if you can't figure out the use of hyperbole and teal...well, welcome to MUScoop.

Flood came in at the 0:33 mark, as I recall. And I'll take Derrick's 13 assists and numerous more points from free throws over 1 bucket. But I guess maybe I put too much stock in advanced metrics, since obviously points are the only thing that matters.

You know how teal works = you don't know how teal works.
When you post something in teal that starts with 'Definitely!' That means that you strongly disagree with the content of my post. Welcome to MUscoop.
