Now that TWC will not be producing any game broadcasts, there shouldn't be any blackout issues.

This thread got me to check because I cannot make it to game on Fri night. I am trying to find game via Uverse and it is not showing in Chicago on Friday nite. Disappointed because I wanted to tape it if I wasn't home in time to watch on TV.

btw, what exactly is FSN... it is not FS1 or FS2. I thought it maybe was a regional edition that required an upgrade premium subscription, but MU-Southern wasn't listed.

Anyone else notice or know something. Stream?

FSN I am assuming is Fox Sports North....a regional Fox channel.

FSN is Ch 748 in Uverse, Chicago and is showing GA vs GA So. No FS-North regional edition listed. Somehow, I knew this new deal wasn't going to be as smooth as anticipated. Hope this is the only game not working as planned.

Uh, I think that this is on MU Athl Dept. Typical. Just like with their MKE-centric viewpoint, that they used to list TWC as a  TV outlet (while only available in WI). If I'm reading this right, MU Athl Dept is posting the game is on Fox-N edition which is WI, but it is not on? Do they ever check these things out?

Oh yeah, how is the MU Athl Dept coming along with the Buzz Williams TV Show? Another screw-up.

In Chicago with Directv, the game will live on Fox Sports West (Ch. 692) and Fox Sports Wisconsin (Ch. 669). Fox Sports West is Ch. 5417 on Dish Network.

Yeah, in seriousness, it would be nice to have a TV locator app for Big East games.

firstrowsports will likely have it

Will it be a little grainy? Will you have to reload the page once in a while?  Will you get ads for Ukranian mail-order brides?  Yes, yes, and YES!!

However, just close the ads and it usually works just fine.

Streaming exists, but for very few partners.  Most distributors don't have deals with FS1 so FS1 is holding it over their heads.  It is what it is...they want more money, the distributors have said no.  Thus, no FS1 for most.

Has absolutely nothing to do with the Big East or Val Ackerman.  This is 100% Fox.

DirecTV is the way to go for any college basketball fan. So worth the investment. I don't believe I will miss a single MU game all year due to it not being televised.  Plus, you get literally hundreds of other games each week. It is a thing of beauty.

However, with most games aired on FSN1 this year, I figure television should be less of an issue for all this season.

My TiVo has a Wishlist search.  I entered Marquette.  Got several random results, but also showed the game at 11:30pm on FCSA.  Also shows the game vs Grambling on 11/12 @ 6pm on FS1.  Also repeated at 12:30pm 11/13 on FS1.

These are all premium upgrades. You won't get it unless you already subscribe or call to buy an upgrade package. I could live with this because I recognize MU has better coverage than back in the day. What bothers me is how it is always glossed over by MU Athl Dept. It is like "you can keep your doctor, you can keep your policy." Just not true (but admittedly on much more trivial matter). I bet there are MU Athl Dept managers making 6+ figures income, but they keep putting out BS about MU tv coverage to alumni and fans. No accountability by MU management - total BS by their PR apparatus on their website.

It is not about Fox and streaming rights. It is not about the BE. It is just about an honest appraisal by the MU Athl Dept to the fan base. Can you get the game? - no not really unless you want to stay up past Midnight (after the game) and make a call to spend extra dollars. I'd just prefer knowing initially that the game is not really available to most fans. Wasted too much time already trying to find way to watch my team and getting stymied. Thanks to the Scoopers for helping clarify the availability.

Come on down.  Going to be interesting to see how many MU games I now get to.  Fullerton is very close to mi casa, but fortunately my son was selected as the starting goalkeeper today for one of the bigger tournaments taking place the 29th through the 1st.    Hoping the MU games are not going to get in the way.   If they do, Mrs. Chico loves wine and happily will host.  ;)

Apparently not on in Wisconsin per earlier poster if you read. Lying maybe strong but they are communicating to the fan base info that isn't correct. Just like TWC was always the broadcast listed when most fans couldn't get it.

It's the Fox Sports Network where Fox contracts the game to a regional outlet like SNY, MSG, NESN, Fox Sports Wisconsin. DirecTV channel 692, Fox Sports West, is the only channel listing the game at present which I find odd. Kneejerk - did you read what I wrote? Why can't they check these things before putting out info to the fan base that isn't correct. If they are being paid to be professional, why can't they be professional? Just like they got blindsided and lost the Buzz Williams TV Show. It is not the $s. It is the lack of competency. As one poster above wrote (below, which is worth bitching about). So why would they put this info out?

Looks like most of us will have to go to a bar, or pony up some ching for a pay per view deal.

Over the past two years, the only game I couldn't see was the uwgb game.  Turned out to be a blessing.

Comcast customers have access to FS1 on it, though I don't think FS2...not sure.

I live in Atlanta and have Uverse. I have the sports package and get a lot of different FSN regional affiliates...one of them happens to be FSWI (1744)...while most NHL and NBA games are blacked out on these channels, my guess/hope would be Marquette will get aired on Friday like it says it will.

MU Athletics heads have to be reading this thread and scratching their heads. this is the rubber meeting the road.

In the past with Time Warner Cable purchasing rights to games, MU games would get blacked out in some regions across the country where TW was available.

With Fox having rights that type of situation shouldn't occur.  May be one of the many benefits being associated with Fox Sports.

With espn3, I used to display the PC on the tv to watch. My newest PC has an hdmi port.  Was looking forward to trying this.

Or get a Chromecast and "cast" what's on your computer screen to your tv.  Little doohickey (the technical term) that plugs into an available HDMI port on your tv.  Plays Netflix, Amazon, etc, plus casts a tab from your computer.  You can even open up another tab on your computer and chat about the game while you watch.  Only costs about $30, and they were giving 3 months of free Netflix with purchase at Best Buy (don't know if this is still happening).

Correct.  I found out that it's available from my cable provider, but not on a channel I get.  I'm going to call them tomorrow to find out how much it will be to add Fox Sports.  Otherwise I'll be looking for streams on my computer.

There was a bunch of BE games on NESN and MASN too.

It's not being shown on any of the MSG networks, YES or SNY.

Try this link for all Fox sports sports listings. Enter your zip and cable provider. It's a bit clunky.

Anyone know where to find a schedule for the Fox Sports Go app online -without accesing the device?

Right now the app only supports FS1 and FS2.  Eventually it will integrate the regional sports networks like fox sports west, north, etc, but not yet

I've only tried it a couple times, but I'm pretty sure you can cast any tab from the Chrome browser on your computer.  It puts a symbol up in the top right corner of your browser.  You click that and it's sent to the Chromecast.

It's the Fox Sports Network where Fox contracts the game to a regional outlet like SNY, MSG, NESN, Fox Sports Wisconsin. DirecTV channel 692, Fox Sports West, is the only channel listing the game at present which I find odd. You would think Fox Sports Wisconsin would have the game, but have a Timberwolves game on instead.
[Note: It has been updated so it shows in Milwaukee but not in Kenosha County (considered driving to the Brat Stop]

"I read what you wrote....you wrote that it was glossed over by the athletic department.  And I think you have unrealistic expectations.  Get off your ass and look it up.  It isn't hard.

Do you want Larry Williams to come over and change your channel too?" Sultan of S

I think that you put out a reasonable request 77ncaachamps, but the above was the "friendly" advice that I got from Sultan of S was that this is "unrealistic expectations," as well as "WTF are you bitching about? ...
Pry open you wallet, listen on the radio, or just do something else." I think that he must work in the Athl. Dept. You would think that the professionals in the Athl Dept could simply write: "limited availability-check your local listings." FSN is truly not available in real time for this game in a great number of markets whether paying for a premium subscription or not, because I got off my ass and looked a lot before writing.  As a lon time season ticket holder, I don't think they have communicated availability very well.

Actually it looks like I get Fox Sports, so I'll be able to watch the 11/12 game on FS1, but I don't get FCSA, so I won't be able to watch the 11/8 game.  Gawd, this is so confusing!

Off my ass trying to help Scoopers, it is actually pretty easy: Most Cable providers offer Fox, FS1 and FS2 as part of their basic cable packages.

Then there are a series of FSregionals such as FSN (which is Wisconsin), FSSA (South) etc which may or may not be upgrade premium price channels - have to check with your provider. Even within the FSN (WI) viewing area, you may not get the game in real time for sure as I learned when I checked Kenosha (drive to Brat Stop) and the Southern game will not be broadcast in real time. CBSSportsNet may be a similar situation for all of you who don't live in Milwaukee.

To me, it seems like the Athl Dept just puts out this schedule based on TV coverage in MKE, which is short-sighted and not helpful to our national fan base. As a long time season ticket holder, I'm glad I usually don't have to deal with it. But can't make it to MKE in time on Fri night. One of the few games that I've missed  in-person or on broadcast in quite awhile. Sure the Sultan of Sh*t will tell me to quit bitchin'.

You can probably save the $12 a month this year.  You'll likely only miss the following games:

Southern

Samford

Seton Hall

This assumes that you have access to CBS Sports, BTN, the ESPNs and CBS. But if you have DirecTV, you should get all those.

That said, I am a CBB junkie, so I will still have the sports pack. It is simply amazing the number of games available.

It partly depends what your base package is.  FS1 is part of CHOICE and above.  FS2 is part of XTRA and above.  Some games will be on a RSN that you will not have access to without Sports Pack.

FS1 should be part of Total Choice grandfathered package.  You should go to channel 219 and make sure you can see it.  If so, you are good there.  In terms of the games on the RSNs that aren't on FS1, yes you would need Sports Pack

Be careful with the assumptions.  For DTV, CBS Sports Net is on a tier above FS1 and the ESPNs.  Just warning people to check before it's too late.

MN residents help me out. I have the basic comcast digital package. I don't see the southern game on TV guide for comcast. It's not listed on the fox sports go app lineup. I even checked the watch espn app and confirmed it's not there

Is it available at all here? Do I need a sports package from comcast?

I had Hoped the FS go app would show more, but it states it only shows content based on what level you pay your cable provider- not like the espn app that airs many other CBB games that don't air on TV. Hopefully they'll beef up the content as we move forward.

Thanks Chicos (and others who replied).  I hate missing any games, so the thought of upgrading to the Sports Pack is rather obvious.

In past years, DirecTV has offered the 1st three months free.  That gets you through more than half way through the season.  I wonder if DTV is still offering this promotion.

The past couple years I've put up maps, blackout explanation, and a PDF grid showing channel availability for major providers in and out of Wisconsin -- all in an attempt to be "helpful to our national fan base."  It took a fair amount of time for me to compile, hours in fact... and yet, go to: http://www.muscoop.com/index.php?topic=28290.msg326551#msg326551 and check for yourself how many times that PDF was downloaded.

Moral of the story: why the heck should the athletic department go to greater lengths than any other school in the nation to compile a list of channels & providers for its national fan base?  Unless, of course, when you say "national fan base" you mean 1 person.

I'm having the same issue.  FSN is carrying the Wolves game that night (so I'll be there, partly to check out my man Jae Crowder) and I have not found the MU game on other channels.  It might come up on FS+ if you get that.  I get FS+ with my package in St. Paul (ch. 963 I think) but my father in Bloomington doesn't get it.

Kind of DEFENSIVE for the Athl Dept aren't you? All they have to put out on their MU Website grid is: "FSN-limited availability-check local listings." That is accurate, not like making the game seem like nationally available, which it is quite obviously NOT in real time, even in the complete FSN viewing area the last time that I checked.  Don't know why you had to make a big deal about my criticism - work for the Athl Dept or have a buddy who does? I didn't ask for a list of channels and providers. Thank you for your past work.

Happy that it made you laugh because your response was laughable (you are defending the group that got blindsided by TWC and now fans have no BW TV show this season). Just couldn't understand why you or another guy would be so Defensive about something any good PR person could figure out unless you had a vested interest.

To make you feel even better, in the past years when I was either traveling on business or Wintering down South, I often used your media maps so we could figure out if we could get game (after checking gomarquette) or needed to find a bar with satellite (which your maps helped with telling them how to find the right channel). I never downloaded it. Bet there were a lot of other fans who used the information without downloading also. Thanks for all of us fans. Yeah... The discussion about "angry cable customers who are too stubborn to switch cable providers because they're afraid that the mean satellite people are going to steal their medication" is in the Superbar.  Just look for the thread where Chicos name-drops an ESPN exec every other post.

I have DirecTV and the Southern game is showing on the guide at 7pm Friday night on FSN Wisconsin (Ch 669).  I have it set to record so I can watch it when I get home from the game.

I think that he must work in the Athl.

I don't work in the Athletic Department.  I just think that it really isn't that big of a deal to look something up instead of having it spoon fed to you.

It seems like a lot of the confusion here is coming from the fact the schedule just says "FSN" for Fox Sports Networks, which generally refers to all the regional networks, with Fox Sports Wisconsin being the local regional network.  Fox Sports North, the regional network in Minnesota, is also called FSN, but that's not what they mean.

The game is on Fox Sports Wisconsin in HD.  That's a hell of a lot better than being on the Time Warner Sports channel, which is where this game would have been televised last year.  If the schedule would have just said Fox Sports Wisconsin, I don't think there would have been as much confusion.

Isn't ESPN delivered directly to the consumer now without a cable or satellite provider?   :P

Okay, I did do the lookup in case others are interested and here's where I see the game live on at least on Dish

http://affiliate.zap2it.com/tv/college-basketball-southern-at-marquette/SP002866680000?aid=dish

It's carried tonight on Fox Sports WI and Fox Sports West, which if like me you have Comcast in Chicago you don't get as an option.

Has anyone had any luck with the MU bars in Chicago at least carrying Fox Sports WI through Dish or DirecTV?  I called the Schoolyard and Four Shadows and didn't get much confidence that they knew whether or not they'll actually have the channels to carry the game.

I unfortunately will be unable to watch it live via one of the streaming services.  So, a bit of a different question: will I be able to watch a replay of it somewhere online or is one of you going to have to give me a vivid play by play description in the post-game thread?

Will's Northwoods Inn said they would have the game on.

Ok...I'm confused. Why isn't Fox Sports Go streaming this game?

Because the app isn't ready to integrate the RSNs.  It only integrates FS1 and FS2 for now, but down the road will integrate the RSNs.  Very complex because it all needs to be tied to paid authentication.  Each provider's tier is different where those RSNs sit (if they even carry them).  They have some work to do.  This will be the first app of its kind to be able to go down to the provider tier level with this many channels and package combinations.  Fortunately they are doing this without gov't web development help so the chance for success is high.

Download the DIRECTV Sports Bar Finder app for your phone.  The game is on in Chicago on channel 692 which for bar owners will be the Sports Pack package.

I put in a Chicago zip code of 60620 and the ones that pop up on the app as subscribers to college basketball package

TC Sports Pub
Buffalo Wild Wings
Grove Sports Bar
Reggies
Morgans on Maxwell
The Scout
Hawkeye's
Jimmy Green's
South Loop Club
Kasey's Tavern
Trio
Jak's
Union Park
Westend Bar
Tilted Kilt
Pizano's
Harry Caray's
Public House
Blackfinn
Boss Bar
Bull and Bear
Mother Hubbard's

Etc, etc.  Probably 100+ came up

Thanks. Maybe I'm a bit dense but sometimes it's just hard to ensure this stuff when you talk to bar staff. Been burned before.

I agree.  I would definitely call ahead, especially if tv's are limited and there is a desire to put something else on the tube instead....like that awful NBA crap.   ;)

The Fox Sports Go App is working great.  For the BC v. Providence game, anyway.  Too bad.
