Title: Story on Mayo brothers reuniting
Post by: Pakuni on October 24, 2013, 04:50:34 PM
Todd doesn't sound like a guy planning to leave MU early.

"I just want to appreciate this moment, appreciate my junior year, appreciate my senior year when it approaches me and just appreciate having my family here," Todd Mayo said. "O.J. has a three-year deal, it couldn't get any better than this. I'm just going to take it day by day, work hard, don't get distracted of my goals and what we have to do as a Marquette player and a student athlete. I'm going to seek the moment, but as I'm seeking the moment I'm still going to handle business."

Really nice to see this attitude change for Mayo this year. I cant wait to see how he plays this year. He could be one of the biggest surprises in the Big East.

He's smiling more in pics. THAT's a good thing, I hope.

But is he wearing the team-issued shoes?

OJ:  18p 4r 4a
Todd:  14p 3r 3a  Most improved player in BE.  6th man of the year if Buzz uses him the way I hope he does.

Everybody's happy!

Smiling in team pictures? Watch stuff like that? LOL.

You are focusing a little too hard on frivolous stuff. Smiling or not smiling means nothing.

He was probably asked to and he did it.

Smiling in pics is different from not smiling in pics...because he's in WV!

I really do think he's going to have a good year.  Not a Vander-type year from last year, but still he will be a solid 22-24 mpg player.

And I think being in practice from the beginning is really going to help him defensively.  He struggled in the team concept last year - although his on ball defense has always been good.

I've always been bullish on Todd based on what he flashed freshman year.  Last year was a complete waste of a year, and one I feel would qualify as an outlier.  It would not surprise me in the least to see Todd be the 2nd leading scorer on this team at 12-16ppg.  Think being in at MU for the first time over the summer, brother being in town, growing up a bit - all point toward him putting it all together this year.

I love Buzz as much as anyone but on area of criticism I had for him all of last year was how he used Todd - short spurts, never for long stretches, and he'd get yanked at his first mistake.  Although I guess with Vander going so well last year, it was hard to keep Van on the bench for long periods.
