He's from the south and has interest from the likes of Auburn.  That's about it.

His first name begins with J. It's destiny.

has size and is all about rebounds.  Exactly what we need next year.

Not sure Marquette will be able to pry him away from UNC-Greensboro...

Actually, it looks like he has a few post-up moves and at least is not a stranger to popping out and hitting a 10-12 foot jumper.

Kinda dubious about the 6' 9 1/2" though.

I'm told their coach is next in line to take over Colorado.

We've got a top ten recruiting class already.  I'll take Satchel & Jakeem and trust that Buzz & CO can coach them up.

Has some decent post moves and goes hard after rebounds. Looks like he can step back and shoot it too. His strength going to the basket doesn't wow me but I'd be happy to have him on the roster.

Well he certainly fills our second Ja-something name and dreadlocks void.

Wow!
If that was a highlight video, I can't wait fort the slow, awkward, underwhelming, and shorter than advertised video to come out.
I'm sorry, but I don't see it.

We do not have a top 10 class. We are down to 13 and once the big names commit we will fall further down the rankings..

Unless the big names commit to teams that are already above us. Plus, when Yates and Pierce commit to MU, we will shoot right back up again.

No thanks.  This has a strong Trend Hazelboro feel to it.  Transfers in spring are the way to go.

Actually you are wrong technically.  Espn updated us to 10.   So yes, we are top 10

I remember think the same thing when I watched Davante's highlight video. Not saying that this guy is the next Davante but if Buzz likes him, I say full steam ahead.

Would rather see Pierce than Yates commit but who knows maybe both decide to come.

According to PT, Buzz plans to sign two more bigs for 2014.

Someone's getting buzz cut

What do we know?
First name is spelled JaKeem, get that weak k out of here.

Two years ago, Rivals summed him up as "Yates is a solid rebounder and can finish in the post with his size."  That is the only evaluation, I could find.

It appears that he was originally a 2013 who reclassified to 2014.

From Charlotte, North Carolina, was previously in school at West Charlotte HS where he was a teammate of Kennedy Meeks who was ranked 59 by ESPN and signed with UNC.  Playing alongside a talented 6'9", 275 lbs. center can cause a HS PF to get overlooked.

The UNC-Greensboro offer was for last year's class (2013-14).  UNC-Wilmington offered him, as well.  He took an official visit to Auburn, last year, not sure if he received an offer from them.

This year he is in prep school at Believe Preparatory School, which bills itself as a postgraduate basketball program in Rock Hill, SC.
"Here at Believe Prep, we bring talented young basketball players from all around the country & world. These kids are recent high school graduates who may need this additional year to grow academically and/or as basketball players. We play a national schedule that can range from 40-50+ games per year."

Played for the Carolina Surge in AAU, and it appears the Carolina Hawks u17, as well.

Last year, ESPN had him listed at 6'9", 200 lbs.  The Miami Herald in an article on a HS basketball tournament last December listed him at 6'9", 220 lbs.

Currently, prior to his season at Believe Prep, he is taking part in the Charlotte Invitational Basketball League an exclusive invitation only league created to allow the top 60 high school prep stars from the Charlotte region to compete against each other in the fall.

if you check out the video of Yates, and compare it to McKay's, there are a lot of similarities in their games.  This could be a nice pick up.

Kansas is ranked 25th and Duke is not ranked. I would expect both to finish in top 10. Also, if Yates and Pierce commit that puts us one over and likely means Harris is not coming.

Depends who you are looking at. We were 13th in Scout when I posted and we are now 14th.
