Wasnt sure if this should go here or the superbar but I just wanted to give a shout-out to Marquettes fall sports teams. Womens soccer is ranked, undefeated and in sole possession of first place in the Big East and already clinched a first round bye in the Big East tourney. Mens soccer is also ranked and undefeated/in first place in the Big East and womens volleyball is tied for first place in the big east and their lineup is mostly consisted of freshman. Marquette overall as a school has really had an incredible few years in a row now.
Marquette has other sports teams?
They do! I'd watch both soccer teams on tv if i could. I like soccer, and its the one sport I think is just as much fun to watch women play. I don't know why girls don't play baseball.

Seems like Marquette offers a lot of their fall sports games for free on the website. a lot of schools you have to pay, but I watched the women's soccer vs. Georgetown and Men's soccer vs. Creighton both free of charge on Marquette's website.
Both soccer teams are doing extremely well and the women have all but locked up the regular season title they'd have to really stumble down the stretch and lose both of their final 2 games and Georgetown would have to win out. And Marquette should win the BET since they're the host school.
The Men's title will likely come down to the game this Saturday when Marquette hosts Georgetown. Marquette certainly caught a break getting to host Creighton and Georgetown the preseason top 2 teams in the league at home.
Both the men and women soccer teams at marquette had slow starts to the season but both have really come on strong.
The men's conference is super strong this year with 9 out of 10 teams in contention for the NCAA tournament at all 9 have an RPI of 62 or better. Of course DePaul is the one team stinking it up with an RPI of 103. The men likely send 6 teams to a 48 bid tournament. Women's soccer isn't nearly as strong as only Georgetown and Marquette are locks for the tournament. With only St. John's and DePaul having a shot at the tourney with RPIs of 55 and 56.
Pay to watch soccer on a website?
I wouldn't watch soccer if they paid me!
(I know, I know ... I'd miss all those nil-nil thrillers.)

Can someone who knows fill me in on what happened with Men's Soccer at Marquette? They were the laughingstock of the school when I was at MU not very long ago... now the past couple of seasons they are ranked in national polls?

That year's particular turnaround was because Calum Mallace missed most of the non-conference games. Dude ended up going to Montreal in the MLS SuperDraft, a first for MU.

QuoteBoth the men and women soccer teams at marquette had slow starts to the season but both have really come on strong.
WSOC played a tough schedule with Portland & UCLA, both ranked teams, and a roadie at Illinois State, which was an NCAA tournament team a year ago. Those are their only three losses.
MSOC lost all-conference midfielder Bryan Ciesiulka for six matches after losing the opener with him. Resulted in a slow start, but wasn't surprising to see them struggle without him.

If MU beats St. John's on Wednesday, there's no way the Red Storm makes the tournament.
This is my favorite time of the year at Marquette for sports. Much more enjoyable than basketball season. I love going to the WSOC, MSOC and Volleyball events. Actually been to more of those than the basketball games.
The women's volleyball team has five losses, three of them were against #2 Penn St, #4USC and #5 Florida. Marquette's RPI is #16. Lindsey Gosh is ranked 5th in the country in aces per set. Autumn Bailey leads all freshman in the country in points per set.

?? Women's volleyball is fine. But to say it's better than men's is laughable. When you can STILL win at the highest level using gimmick formations, there is a problem.
Men's volleyball starting at about the 16s age level (sophomores going into their junior years of high school) you start seeing the BIC run efficiently and in system for points. In women's volleyball you don't see the BIC set in system...ever. Not even at the Olympic level. In women's volleyball the most offensive options you will see at once is 3. In men's you see 4 whenever they are in system. The hardest hit ball you see at the women's Olympic level would be easily dug at even the men's D1-2 collegiate level.
Also, have been to a few of the Marquette women's matches. To say those matches are more fun to watch than the Men's Final Four (which I was at last spring)...well, no. It's not even comparable.
