Title: Dan Hanner- Wooden Legacy Prediction

Predicts MU has a 50% chance of winning, probably meeting Creighton in the final.  Most likely will play either Arizona State or Creighton in the championship.  Also mentions our half of the bracket sucks, besides MU.

And there's always the entertainment value of the possibility of two games against ASU in less than a week.

I have not heard anything about them, but can we assume the aircraft carrier games are history.

Or our first of potentially five games against Creighton.

There is a real chance of four games.  It would be great for the BE if ther were 5.

I certainly would not put MU's odds that much higher than Creighton. They return most of their minutes from last season (with the exception of Echenique) while we may still be searching for the right lineup. By the end of the season I think we'll have the edge, but early on, not so sure.

It is obvious to me that the Big East is undervalued by the pundits preseason, but Creighton has just about everyone back from a YAG...and while I think MU wins the Big East, I think the grinder schedule better prepares Creighton for the NCAA's.

CU has a rabid fan base, they sell out every game, and they travel well.  I smell an instant rivalry.

I think the opposite.  When mid-majors step up in class it doesn't generally go that well for them.

But I am fully prepared to be wrong.

Well, that may be true longer term with CU but they do have a strong hoops history.  I look at Gonzaga, Memphis, Butler and even Xavier under Miller the I as they upped their non-conference schedules, their programs rose. Can CU recruit to Omaha long-term?

Btw, the old BE said the same about MU when we entered despite the recent Final 4 run, but not DePaul...lol.  How times and program commitments change things.

I'm sure Syracuse and UConn fans said that about us when we joined the BEast

Why wouldn't they?    A team with one good season in the last 10, coming off back-to-back NIT seasons, with a coach perceived to be looking to jump, turning the keys of the program over a freshman backcourt.   I consider 05-06 Crean's best coaching job and the second best coaching job at MU since Crean arrived.  IMO, 09-10 was better.    But back to the point, the Big East did look askance at MU when we arrived.

And then seven years later we (along with six other Big East schools) were looking askance at the Big East!

Actually, we're looking askance at Conference America, or whatever it's called....
