Title: Marquette Madness - Suitable for a 4 year old?
Post by: rstein27 on October 09, 2013, 02:57:13 PM
Was thinking of attending Friday night with my 4 year old, what is it like?  I'm guessing its filled to capacity, do people bring smaller children there?  Just curious what people who have attended in the past think.

The Fish Fry / Halloween Costume event is more suitable.

Seen children there but like Nukem2 said the Haunted Hoops is probably better.

Cool, just was curious, my thought is against going, but just wanted to see what people thought.

Ya never know. Just when you thought it was safe to take the kid to the President's Cup, hey?
I'd say go for it though. Since Crean left, good chance you won't be exposed to any head coach sportin' a thong.

I've gone a number of times and always taken my kids.  Probably started around 4 years old.  He's now 7 and we'll be there again on Friday.  He loves going.  I've felt it's a safe environment, but if you are choosing between this Friday's MM and Haunted Hoops, then go with Haunted Hoops.

MU students are too drunk and belligerent at the games for young children.

I don't know if this factors into your decision, but they're letting people start lining up at 4:30 before opening the doors up at 6:30, with the event starting at 7.

I took my 4 yr old to the night game @ Cincy this year.

I don't know how Marquette Madness would be less "suitable" than that.

Just sayin.

Here's a link to the event.  http://www.gomarquette.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/100713aaa.html

Sounds harmless enough.

I have a late evening flight out os Milw tomorrow, and plan on stopping by for the first hour or so.

There is a parking garage across from The Al.

I've never taken my kids to Madness .. partially due to all the waiting.  Wait to get in .. wait for the event to start .. etc, etc.

OTOH, I've taken them to Haunted Hoops every time since they were newborns.  Easy in, easy out.  Indeed, some waiting if the dinner hasn't finished yet, but that's a matter of deciding when you want to show up.

Hasn't in years past.  Depends on the students, but I think showing up by 8PM would be fine.

Are you serious? Not at madness. Way to generalize student fans...

True only the older students are drunk and even them its so long you're dealing with your hangover by the time the good part happens.

Gotta say, most times you bring up Crean in a thread, I roll my eyes and think, "not again."

This time, I laughed out loud.

Then I wondered "how do you know he was sportin' a thong under that karategi?" Yuck.

marquette students are harmless...had season tickets right next to the student section growing up...and we were sitting there because mike deane wasn't harmless :-)  learned a whole new vocabulary before we had our seats moved, and my dad was never afraid to use a little harsh language so it was pretty impressive.
