Title: Buzz in Goodmans insider article of coaches who love analytics
Post by: CAGASS24 on October 08, 2013, 02:45:39 PM
Buzz Williams, Marquette: "We have used analytics as another source to show our guys the aspects we think trends towards us in having the best chance to win," Williams said. "There are core stats we study all the time, but we emphasize different ones based on the complexion of our roster each year, and what we think is most important."

Bo ryan in the article says he was "doing points per possession" when he got out if college.

Love that Bo Ryan quote.  Like a hipster, he was tracking tempo free stats before Pomeroy knew what it was.  LOL.   ;D

I think Bo's a pretty adaptive coach who realizes his age, personality and home state is going to lend itself overall to a certain type of play / player.  I do not think his Platteville & UWM teams were this deliberate.  Even his UW teams have changed, the guards post a lot less now.

adaptive...but within the constraints of the swing.  obviously i'm biased, but i've never seen anything more impressive than the success buzz had with cuby and acker handling the ball.
