With hindsight, Dwyane Wade says surgery to remove the meniscus from his left knee 11 years ago while he was at Marquette led to the ongoing knee problems he's had with the Miami Heat.
Wade has battled chronic knee issues over his career. He needed a second surgery on his left knee in 2012 and has also battled bone bruises and tendinitis.
Wade said that if more of a long-term approach was used when he had his meniscus surgery in 2002, following his sophomore season, he may not have as many issues today.
I blame Crean. Shoulda sent Wade to that world class ortho dude in Indy.
He traded his meniscus in exchange for a Final Four run and a couple NBA seasons in his mid-30s. Good trade from my perspective. ;)

And a net worth of 75 million.
I'll sell my meniscus for far less than $75 Mill. Hell, I'll sell both.
Crusher, there's four of them.
I'll prefer to keep two. ;)
So D-Wade still hasn't finished his degree at Marquette, but he was able to get through med school, complete an orthopedic fellowship, AND win 3 NBA titles?
Seems like lamenting about his meniscus should be well beneath him.

That's all Wade's worth? After all his endorsements? I have a hard time believing its not in the 100s of millions

He's had some not-sot-successful business ventures.

He's got a legitimate point. Meniscus repair takes longer to recover from, but the meniscus is a shock absorber so if left in it limits the shock in the knee. Taking it out is faster(and sometimes the only path), but then you are prone to repeated knee stress. When I had my ACL and meniscus done, that was one of the first things my ortho doc talked to me about. Pretty sure I didn't need to go to medical school to figure that out.

Took the 65M and added 10M for next year.
I thought there were whispers of Wade having knee issues before he even had that surgery. At least that was the word on the street.

Hence the need for the surgery.

Well, I guess he would have had issues to require surgery...?
Yea, I have no idea what point I was trying to make either.
I'm 100% sure Wade did not have a complete menisectomy after his sophomore year. If he had a meniscus repair, he would have struggled to get back for the start of his junior year and would have missed all summer in the gym. Meniscus repairs are very rare because the tear has to be in a very specific area (one with blood flow) and it's much easier still to take shave off the part that's torn. And whether or not Dwyane has tendonitis in his knee, really has nothing to do with a previous menisectomy, unless he didn't rehab correctly (doubt as a professional athlete).
