Jsglow and I are here. First fun fact: Holy crap, is Davante thin! In a good way. He is walking around with Jamil's nametag, and he could almost fool people.

Smart kid, putting himself in the the best position for his final go 'round.
Second fun fact: Hottest auction item is a Warrior trash can. $40 retail value - high bid so far is:$270.
Could ya put down 5 bucks for me on Gardner's jockstrap? F*ckin' could use a new one for Xmas.

Profiting off the blood and heartbreak of American Indians? Shameful!
Trash can up to $500

Serious question - can you take a picture of it?... post it at some point?

Sorry, they took it away before I had a chance.
Winning bid was $540.
Seriously. High bid of $10,000 for Joe True to cook a gourmet meal at your home. Kudas Joe.
Typo. Sorry.
Enjoyed the event, but it was flat. Jamil MC'd and he was easily the best speaker (I was impressed with his poise and fluid delivery). This was the first time I've heard LW give a talk, and he was very average. Buzz was uncharacteristically flat as well. If you took out the student athletes and MU staff, the place (held at the Pfister) would have been like Sunday's Brewers game will be.
Gardner does look much thinner.
Buzz did give Dodds a jab for not bidding ("you get all that access, and it's a safe bid, what are you afraid of!")

And this is why we we'll never get the Warriors back

If they wanted to profit they would bring warriors back. Merchandise sales would get a boost.

You don't know PRN, do you? ;D
Last year they honored a few veterans at half time. All they have to do is bring back warriors and associate the name with our military veterans instead of Indians. Honor a different war veteran every home game.

I like this idea. It would be hard for the NCAA to come out and say, sorry you are not allowed to honor US war veterans.

Especially if the veteran was wounded and involved with this program:

So intead of Willie Wampum, indian head logo, etc. everything would be military-based?
Pass.

Was not the warrior Indian mascot always military based? The Indian warrior would of been part of the Indian's military (fighting force). The Warrior meant being a brave fighter. Somehow it became a negative symbol for Indians even though being described as a warrior is not a negative adjective.

Its not that so much as the ridiculously racist way in which Indian Warriors were portrayed. Willie Wampum was awful on many levels.

Willie was of course long gone before the nickname change. It was the attempt to rehabilitate the Native American imagery, rather than to abandon it in favor of some other mascot that doomed the Warrior nickname.

The Cleveland Indian logo was just as bad.

Completely agree. In fact it was worse in my opinion. Still doesn't matter though

And I do agree with the attempt and wish that it would have worked. WW's legacy was just that bad...along with some interesting quick decisions by the administration
