Hmm .. do you have any Heisman Trophy winners? Any of your QBs ever win a NCAA championship .. er, how many? Any USA Today Player of the Years? Any who did it in two sports in the same year? How about MLB MVPs? World Series MVPs? 8-)
Anyhow .. the "wine and cheese" thing is interesting .. Back in the 80s (and before), Cretin was the rough-and-tumble crowd, blue collar. St. Thomas was the white-collar snobs .. (I'm sure they still are.)
Actually not watching the game .. my son is sick, so we're watching his choice.

Nope, we have none of those. Just know my son's team beat CDH 2 out of 3 times. No D1 recruits on his team. Just kids who played VAA football since third grade.
CDH has a great legacy of individual players. No question. Also, CDH gets lots of scholarship players. They recruit players from all over the metro.
Stillwater school district is mostly a very outer ring school disrtict. They don't recruit kids. And they win. Strong and deep tradition.

CDH has very good athletes. Stillwater is very well coached. Mark Elmer, SW defensive coach is a genius.

I need to figure out what high school teams to pay attention to out there.. as for CDH, I try to like them because they are Catholic, in the St. Paul city limits and send a ton of kids to MU.. but I also like to see them get taken down from time to time (including tonight!).

CDH does have probably one of the most impressive lists of alum that have not only gone pro, but also, MVP's, etc.
Surprised they don't dominate more consistently at the HS level with more SC's.
The fact that the game was on ESPN2 shows how much the interest in college football has extended into recruiting. Neither team is even ranked in the 10 in Minnesota but they put it on national TV just to feature Cornell, a defensive player no less. I live about a mile from CDH and it felt like I had stumbled onto the local community access channel.
