I think MU will survive.

Still, it wold have been nice to have him. I'm pretty sure that Buzz wasn't pursing him too hard due to hopes of getting Lammers, Tory Miller or Jabari Craig, instead for that scholarship. Terror Skink said a while ago that MU wasn't going to get two bigs in this class and that seems to be coming true. It appears that Buzz is recruiting to get a big and another switchable with the last two scholarships. Ahmed Hill and Shayok being the two most mentioned as those MU is in contention with for the switchable schollie.

Don't rule out Cassell for that last switchable slot. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he ended up taking that scholarship before Hill or Shayok even get to campus.

Doesn't matter. We did not really want him, and we are putting our eggs in a bigger basket.
Buzz cooled on him.
We don't get Big's over 3 Stars anyways. No surprise here....

Willie -
Bigger eggs, not a bigger basket.

I find the psychology interesting here... I see it not so much as a kid saying "no" to MU, but rather a kid making a choice amongst many different options and criteria. The word "no" to me means a negative response. I don't see it as a rejection or negative when there are many options. If we were the only team offering him and he said no way I'm going to MU, then I'd see it as a true no.
I guess you could look at it as a no, in the sense that if your invited to a a dozen parties on the same night, and you have to choose only one, you are saying no to the 11 you don't attend. But, for some reason I see this different than a true "no" as in I don't want it or I won't to do it. I may want to attend all the parties, but I see it as saying yes to one and sorry I'd like to come to the other 11, but due to certain criteria e.g. proximity of the party to my house or my best friends party who I haven't seen in a while, I choose just that one certain party/program. I wouldn't say "no" I''m not coming, but rather I cannot make it. Now, if the person who invited me was someone I really didn't like and I wanted to make a point, sure I could say "no I'm not coming" and leave it at that... and that would probably be a negative rejection that way I would use a "no."
I have been accused of being an optimist, so maybe I just psychologically don't see "no" as many others do.
Okay, an off topic deviation from the subject matter.
This May Be My New Tag Line: Sorry for the intrusion into this thread if it offends anyone, and if I have grammatical errors, sorry, but I'm not going to spend time proof reading, etc, so please save your commentary 8-)
He is saying "no" to MU, but it's easier to swallow in one regard because he's saying no to a bunch of other solid to top-notch programs as well. He's still making a conscious choice to not attend MU just as he made a conscious choice to include them in his list.
That being said, I see your point. If it's some neutral criteria beyond MU's control then no big deal.
Obviously, there are a million reasons why I'll sleep at night not landing this kid, but I'm only addressing the narrow scope of this argument.
Geben has been underrated.
Nice looking prospect. Honestly. Really good.
