Which Jesuit school would you root for? Marquette with the most NCAA appearances and sweet 16s? Georgetown with the most elite 8s, final fours and runner ups? or San Fransisco with the most titles?
Also on another note I wonder if he could put together a Jesuit thanksgiving tournament or something it'd be a pretty legit tournament
Well, since he is probably a soccer fan, not a basketball fan, who has the better soccer history? St. Louis?

I don't know Basketball is big in Italy.
Creighton.
The Jesuit tourney idea has been floated on this board multiple times. I love the idea...some here don't seem to think its possible. Its probably not gonna happen as long as 4 of the best Jesuit bball schools, Georgetown, MU, Xavier and Creighton, are all in the same conference thus negating the possibility of them playing together in a preseason tournament. And if SLU joins the Big East then there really is no way. All you have left is BC, Gonzaga, and a bunch of tiny and/or not-so-great-in-basketball schools.
Given some of the things that are posted on this board and the fact the sports create enemies (UW vs MU fans, Kentucky vs. Louisville, etc.) a Pope probably should not support any sports team.

Ok then if he had the choice to see a game between any of the jesuit schools which do you think he'd pick?

Valid point I hadn't considered that, though St Joseph's is still decent. It would be a tradition rich tournament despite not the best currently.
Newest gimmick game: Marquette vs. Georgetown at the Vatican.

The one with the biggest arena.
Which one has a study abroad program in Buenos Aires?
What do you mean "let's say"?
Marquette, of course!
Love,

On a battleship! And I don't care if The Vatican is landlocked. Technicalities! Make it happen!

It's the pope he's supposed to know a super powerful guy who could make that happen

Put up hoops in the Sistine Chapel!
If I was the pope -- which would be really weird as I'm not Catholic, clergy, or really very religious at all -- I would cheer for Marquette. Why? Because I went to Marquette. Just because you put a fabulous hat on my head and call me pontiff doesn't make me any less a Marquette fan.
Maybe the pope will watch some MU games on the suite w fr p, and then decide that fr p is better served in the Vatican.

Or you know learned from that big book we all had to study at Marquette
Marquette. I already have a picture of him in MU fan gear.
As he said recently, "Who am I to Judge?"

Blessed are...
...the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
...those who mourn: for they will be comforted.
Based on the a couple of the beatitudes, I'd say DePaul... God loves the downtrodden...

St. Joe's is a pretty decent basketball school. Detroit Mercy has it's years.
