Title: Wes Matthews just called me
Post by: mu_hilltopper on October 09, 2007, 02:00:52 PM
Boy, Marquette is really putting on the full court press to get a full house for MU Madness on Saturday.  I assume this is because TC wants it crazy for the recruits in the house.  I can't recall any advertisement (off-campus) for MM in years past.

So I pick up my phone, and it's a recording of Wes Matthews telling me to go to the Al on Saturday.   Must have a list of season ticket holders or something.

Plus .. in case you missed it .. MU has a commercial on TV .. I saw it on prime time NBC last night.

I got the Wes call too, as did one of my co-season ticket holders. It's a cool marketing idea. I believe dorm residents have automatically gotten voicemails from Tom Crean in the past, and I remember getting "spam" from Crean when I was a student.

I think it's a nice personal touch. Despite the fact that it's obviously a recorded message intended for a mass audience, it shows sincere effort to pack to house for Madness.

Yeah, I received the phone call during work and answered normally.  I even answered him when he asked what I was doing Saturday night before I figured out it was a recording.  Just goes to show that work has been pretty crazy lately.

Anyone else feel a seizure coming on while watching that commercial?
